Antlers (2021)
Plot Overview:
Antlers is a supernatural horror film set in the small, isolated town of Cispus Falls, Oregon. The story centers on a middle-school teacher, Julia Meadows (Keri Russell), and her brother, Paul (Jesse Plemons), the town sheriff. The siblings begin to investigate strange occurrences in their community, including the unsettling behavior of a young student named Lucas (Jeremy T. Thomas). Lucas has been acting withdrawn, and Julia notices signs of trauma, prompting her to reach out to him in an effort to understand what’s going on.
As Julia becomes more involved in Lucas’s life, she uncovers disturbing secrets about his family. Lucas lives with his father, Frank (Scott Haze), and his younger brother in a decrepit, abandoned house. Julia learns that Frank has been hiding a dark, deadly secret: he has been infected by a supernatural force—an ancient creature known as the Wendigo. This mythical monster, once a human, is transformed by insatiable hunger and a curse that drives it to consume its loved ones. Frank’s transformation into the Wendigo and the danger it poses to his children becomes the focal point of the film.
As the creature’s influence begins to consume Frank, the town is faced with a terrifying threat. Julia, Paul, and Lucas must confront the darkness that has taken hold of the town, and they must find a way to stop the creature before it can fully manifest and destroy them all. The film builds a sense of dread and isolation as the characters grapple with the grotesque horror lurking within their own community.
