Savage Grace (2007)
Directed by Tom Kalin, Savage Grace is a haunting and visually elegant drama based on a shocking true story. Set in the world of wealth and aristocracy, the film explores the disintegration of the Baekeland family, masked by glamour but plagued by emotional dysfunction.
Julianne Moore delivers a captivating performance as Barbara Daly Baekeland — equal parts charming and unstable — capturing a woman spiraling into obsession and desperation. Eddie Redmayne is equally compelling as her son Tony, whose complex and disturbing relationship with his mother becomes the emotional crux of the story. The film is beautifully shot, but its unsettling themes and slow pacing may not be for everyone.
