A Sinister Six movie seems like the natural end goal for Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU), but it isn’t the only option. Venom: The Last Dance teases the possibility of merging universes, given Venom’s brief stint in the MCU during Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Spider-Man: No Way Home, as well as Vulture’s crossover into the SSU (in Morbius‘ post-credits scene). With multiverse trickery, the door is open for characters like Venom to potentially join the MCU full-time.
Another intriguing possibility emerges from Madame Web, which introduces Peter Parker and future Spider-People. Given the movie’s early 2000s setting, the timing aligns for these characters to reappear as heroes in the SSU’s present day.
Sony’s plans for the SSU could hinge on the success of their remaining 2024 releases. Kraven the Hunter (August) and Venom: The Last Dance (October) will likely determine the future direction of the franchise. With the brand’s reputation on the line after back-to-back disappointments, the upcoming projects are crucial in reviving both critical and financial success.
