Plot Summary:

Bait (2012) is an Australian horror-thriller film set in a seaside Australian town, where an unexpected terror lurks beneath the waves. The story begins with a tense and harrowing event at a local shopping mall, where a group of shoppers and employees find themselves trapped inside a flooded supermarket after a freak tsunami strikes the coast. As the floodwaters rise, the survivors are forced to contend not only with the increasingly perilous conditions but with an even greater, more terrifying threat: a school of deadly great white sharks that have entered the flooded area and are hunting them down.

The story follows Josh (Xavier Samuel), a young man who recently broke up with his fiancĂ©e, Tess (Sharni Vinson), and is working at the mall as a clerk. Alongside a range of other characters—some of whom are strangers, while others are familiar—Josh becomes part of a group trying to survive in the midst of a catastrophe. As the group seeks higher ground, they are trapped in the submerged mall and forced to come to terms with their own personal fears and pasts.

The sharks lurking in the water add an intense and relentless level of danger. As the group navigates the flooded aisles and clings to any hopes of rescue, they must work together to overcome the predators swimming beneath them. The sharks grow bolder, and it becomes a race against time as the survivors struggle to find a way out before the creatures pick them off one by one.
