VIRAL CLAIM THAT GUS LAMONT IS ALIVE HAS NO EVIDENCE BEHIND IT AS FAMILY MARKS ONE YEAR WITHOUT ANSWERS

A viral claim suggesting that missing four-year-old Gus Lamont has been found alive is not supported by credible evidence.

Gus disappeared from his family’s remote property at Oak Park Station in South Australia on September 27, 2025. One year later, authorities have still not located him, and his family continues to seek answers about what happened.

In the days and months following his disappearance, a number of unverified stories circulated online claiming that Gus had been found or that investigators had uncovered evidence revealing his fate. An AAP FactCheck investigation previously found such claims to be false, noting that police had not located Gus or physical evidence establishing what happened to him.

The latest reporting remains consistent: there has been no confirmed discovery of Gus.

As the first anniversary approached, Gus’s parents, Joshua Lamont and Jessica Murray, made an emotional public appeal for information. They said they were desperate for answers and urged anyone who might know something to contact police.

South Australian authorities have offered a $1 million reward for information that leads to a conviction or establishes Gus’s whereabouts. Police have conducted extensive searches of the remote property and surrounding areas, including multiple ground searches and aerial investigations.

Police have also warned against speculation and online theories that could divert investigators from credible information. Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke has urged the public to provide useful information rather than unverified claims.

For Gus’s family, the anniversary marks a year of uncertainty and unanswered questions. His parents have spoken about the milestones he has missed during the year, including his fifth birthday and family celebrations.

The investigation remains open, and authorities continue to seek information that could help establish what happened to the little boy.

For now, the viral suggestion that Gus has been found alive should not be treated as fact. There is no credible confirmation of such a discovery, and his whereabouts remain unknown.
