Florida Teacher Accused of Throwing Special-Needs Student Through the Air and Pinning Him Against a Wall

A Florida elementary school teacher has been arrested after allegedly grabbing a six-year-old student with special needs so forcefully that the child’s body swung through the air, before pinning him against a wall as he cried that he could not breathe.
Kevin Adkisson, 52, was arrested following an investigation into alleged 𝘢bu𝘴e at Wadsworth Elementary School in Palm Coast, Florida, according to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators said the incident occurred on October 16, 2026, inside a classroom serving students with emotional and behavioral disorders. According to a witness, the confrontation began when two children argued over a toy during free time.
When another staff member attempted to intervene, Adkisson allegedly snatched the toy away. He then reportedly pushed one of the students as the child tried to return to a table.
The teacher allegedly grabbed the boy by the arm in a rough, swinging motion, causing his body to lift into the air. He reportedly yelled at the child, accusing him of acting like a two-year-old and ordering him to return to a designated area.
The frightened student then crawled beneath a desk and began crying. Investigators allege that Adkisson moved the desk, grabbed the boy again and pinned him against a wall, restricting his movement.

According to the witness statement, the child cried that he was being hurt and could not breathe before the teacher eventually released him. Adkisson allegedly told the boy that he was not hurt and walked away.
The investigation uncovered another disturbing allegation. During an interview with detectives, the child reportedly described a previous incident in which Adkisson struck both sides of his stomach with closed fists after the boy moved ahead of classmates in a line. The teacher allegedly picked him up and placed him at the back of the line.
The case was reported to school administrators, who removed Adkisson from campus and notified the child’s parents and Florida’s Department of Children and Families.
Adkisson was arrested on October 22 and faces two felony counts of child 𝘢bu𝘴e without great bodily harm. He reportedly declined to speak with detectives during the investigation and was later released on a $5,000 bond.
School district officials said they were cooperating with authorities and emphasized their commitment to student safety.
The allegations have raised concerns about the treatment of children who require additional support in school. The charges remain allegations, and Adkisson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
