💔 BORN WITH A RARE CONDITION THAT TRANSFORMED HER FACE, JULIANA WETMORE HAS FACED MORE THAN 40 SURGERIES—BUT HER STORY IS ABOUT SO MUCH MORE THAN HER MEDICAL JOURNEY. ❤️‍🩹
Born in 2003 with an extremely severe form of Treacher Collins syndrome, Juliana Wetmore entered the world facing extraordinary challenges. The rare condition affected the development of her facial bones, making everyday necessities like breathing and eating difficult from the very beginning.
To help her breathe, Juliana needed a tracheostomy. She also relied on a feeding tube for nutrition and underwent approximately 45 complex reconstructive surgeries throughout her childhood and adolescence. 🏥💔
Each procedure brought its own challenges, requiring patience, medical expertise, and tremendous support from the people who loved her most.
But Juliana was never defined by her diagnosis.
Although her condition dramatically affected her appearance and physical needs, her intellectual development was not affected by Treacher Collins syndrome. She learned, communicated through sign language, and showed the world her own personality beyond what people could see.
Her parents, Tami and Thom, stood beside her through the difficult moments, sharing her journey to help others better understand rare conditions and the importance of compᴀssion. They wanted people to see the person behind the diagnosis—not simply the medical challenges she faced. ❤️
Their commitment to acceptance reached even further when they adopted Danica, a girl from Ukraine who also had Treacher Collins syndrome. By welcoming her into their family, they offered another child the love, support, and sense of belonging every child deserves. 🥹❤️
Juliana’s journey reminds us that behind every hospital visit and every surgery is a human being with feelings, hopes, and a life that deserves to be celebrated.
Her story is not simply about the procedures she endured. It is about a family that continued to stand beside her, a young girl who learned to express herself in her own way, and the importance of looking beyond appearances.
Because a face may be different, but it can never tell the whole story of a person. ❤️‍🩹
May Juliana’s journey inspire more kindness, understanding, and acceptance for people living with rare conditions. 💗🙏
