“WE WILL MISS THEM SO MUCH”: HEARTBROKEN FAMILIES PAY TRIBUTE TO KAREN AND DAVID COZENS AFTER FATAL CAMPERVAN 𝔠r𝘢sh

Karen Cozens, 60, and David Cozens, 52, died after their campervan collided with a lorry in Somerset. Their families have now shared emotional tributes, remembering a much-loved couple who brought warmth, laughter and love into the lives of those around them.

Two families are facing an unimaginable loss after a husband and wife died in a collision between their campervan and a lorry on a road in Somerset, England.

Karen Cozens, 60, and David Cozens, 52, from Minehead, died at the scene of the collision on the A358 in Combe Florey, near Taunton, at around 6:40 a.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, but despite their efforts, the couple could not be saved.

Weeks later, their families have shared deeply personal tributes, offering a glimpse into the lives of two people remembered for their kindness, their love of family and the happiness they brought to others.

“They were both loved by their family and by everyone around them,” Karen’s family said in a statement released through Avon and Somerset Police.

Their words reflect the depth of the grief left behind by a sudden loss that has changed the lives of those closest to them forever.

Karen’s family described her as an incredible woman with a heart of gold and a friend to many.

They remembered the couple’s shared love of camping trips, banger racing and walking their dogs — simple pleasures that had become part of their lives together.

But their tribute also carried the pain of knowing that the future they had imagined with Karen and David would never come.

“We will miss them so much and we only wish they had more time to watch their grandchildren grow up,” the family said.

Karen’s loved ones described her as the light of their family, expressing a depth of sadness they said was difficult to put into words.

For them, the loss is not only about the sudden absence of two beloved people. It is also about the birthdays, family gatherings and everyday moments that will now be experienced without them.

The family also thanked the emergency services, the air ambulance and three members of the public who tried to help the couple in the moments after the collision.

Their efforts, the family said, would never be forgotten.

David’s son, Matthew Trebble, shared a separate tribute to his father, remembering a man who always put his family first.

Matthew described David as the patriarch of the family, someone who was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren and who could be relied upon whenever they needed him.

He also remembered his father’s cheerful personality and love of laughter.

“He was the man who always had a smile to brighten everyone’s day,” Matthew said, adding that the memories they shared would remain in his heart.

Yet beneath those loving memories was the pain of a future without his father.

“The days are becoming shorter but the pain of missing you is only getting harder,” he wrote.

Matthew said he took comfort in the belief that his father was at peace and reunited with his own parents.

His farewell captured the enduring bond between a father and son — one that continues through memories even after a loved one is gone.

“Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure,” Matthew said.

A MORNING THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING

Police were called to the A358 in Combe Florey at approximately 6:40 a.m. on September 30 following a collision involving a white Mazda Bongo campervan and a Volvo lorry.

Karen was a passenger in the campervan, while David was driving, according to a preliminary report presented when the inquests into their deaths were opened.

Both suffered multiple injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

The circumstances of the collision remain under investigation. Avon and Somerset Police have appealed for witnesses and anyone with information that could help establish what happened.

The families are receiving support from a specially trained family liaison officer as they navigate the difficult weeks following the tᩚraɢedy.

A LOVE THAT WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN

Karen and David’s families are now left to hold on to the memories of a couple who shared their love of the outdoors, their pets and time spent together.

For Karen’s family, she will remain the woman with a heart of gold who brought light into their lives. For David’s son, he will always be the smiling, devoted father who put his family first.

Their tributes speak of more than grief. They reveal the lasting influence of two people whose presence meant so much to those around them.

The words “we will miss them so much” may be simple, but for the families left behind, they carry the weight of a lifetime of love and memories.

Karen and David deserved many more years together, watching their grandchildren grow and making new memories with the people they loved.

Instead, their families must learn to live with their absence while keeping their stories alive.

May Karen and David rest in peace. Their lives will be remembered, and their love will remain with their family. 🕊️🤍
