James paused.

“That can’t be right!”

“What?”

My heart stopped.

On Monday morning, I arrived at Whitmore Industries headquarters.

I wore a simple maternity dress.

James accompanied me into the boardroom.

The room fell silent.

Victoria’s face turned white.

“That’s impossible!”

Daniel stared at me.

I looked directly at him.

“Would it have mattered on Friday?”

He couldn’t answer.

Before Victoria could speak, James handed me another folder.

“Emily, we’ve discovered something concerning.”

I frowned.

“What is it?”

He opened the company’s financial records.

“Over $9 million has been transferred from Whitmore Industries into private accounts.”

Victoria suddenly stood.

“Those transfers were authorized!”

James nodded.

“Yes. By Daniel Whitmore.”

My husband turned pale.

I stared at him.

“Daniel, what have you done?”

“The money was used to finance a second property purchased under another woman’s name.”

My hands began trembling.

“Another woman?”

I looked at my husband.

“Daniel, I told you to destroy those documents!”

The entire boardroom went silent.

I slowly stood.
