THREE MASKED MEN BROKE INTO A TORONTO FAMILY’S HOME — A 75-YEAR-OLD FATHER AND HIS TWO DAUGHTERS WERE SHOT
David Morton, his wife and their two adult daughters were inside their Bridle Path residence when armed intruders forced their way in during the early hours of Thursday morning. All four family members were injured.
A TERRIFYING EARLY-MORNING INVASION
A family in one of Toronto’s most affluent neighbourhoods is recovering after three masked men forced their way into their home in a violent early-morning invasion.
The incident happened at approximately 3:40 a.m. on October 29, 2026, at a residence on Hyde Park Circle in the Bridle Path neighbourhood.
Police said the suspects entered through the rear of the property, carrying firearms and a hammer. They made their way upstairs, where they confronted the family and demanded valuables.
Inside the five-bedroom home were 75-year-old David Morton, his 64-year-old wife, Doriana Zohil-Morton, and their two adult daughters, aged 28 and 26.
THREE FAMILY MEMBERS WERE SHOT
According to Toronto police, a struggle broke out after the intruders confronted the occupants.
Multiple śh́óts were fired, leaving David Morton and both of his daughters with gunshot wounds. The family’s mother was also injured during the attack.
All four were taken to hospital for emergency treatment. Police initially described two of the injuries as life-threatening, while the other two were considered non-life-threatening.
In a statement released on Friday, David Morton confirmed that three members of his family had been shot and were recovering in hospital. He also said all four family members had been attacked with a hammer.
“OUR OWN HOME” NO LONGER FELT SAFE
Morton, who is the CEO of Toronto-based real estate company THE MAC Group, described the experience as deeply traumatic.
“What should have been the safety and security of our own home became a terrifying and life-threatening experience,” he said.
He added that the family was focusing on recovery and supporting one another, while expressing concern about the growing violence associated with home invasions.
His wife, Doriana, has since been released from hospital, while David and their daughters remained under medical care in the latest reports.
THREE SUSPECTS REMAIN AT LARGE
Toronto police are searching for three male suspects believed to be approximately 20 years old. Investigators said they were wearing dark clothing and face coverings.
The suspects reportedly escaped in a dark-coloured SUV. Police have described them as armed and dangerous.
Investigators have not confirmed whether the men managed to take anything from the property, and the motive remains under investigation.
Police are appealing to residents in the area to review security cameras, doorbell footage and dashcam recordings that may help identify the suspects.
A FAMILY FACING A LONG RECOVERY
The attack has shaken the Bridle Path community and renewed concerns about the safety of residents in their own homes.
Toronto police reported that 119 home invasions had been recorded in the city so far in 2026, representing an increase compared with the same period last year.
For the Morton family, the immediate priority is recovery after an ordeal that unfolded in the place where they should have felt safest.
The investigation remains ongoing, and the three suspects have not yet been arrested.
