Tom Jones gave “I Won’t Crumble With You If You Fall” a deeply personal meaning when he recorded it for his 2021 album Surrounded By Time. The song was written by civil rights activist and musician Bernice Johnson Reagon and originally released in 1997.

For Jones, however, the song became closely connected to his wife, Linda, who was seriously ill near the end of her life. In an interview, Jones recalled that Linda encouraged him to continue singing and to keep moving forward even after she was gone. He said hearing the song immediately brought her words to mind.
