Pilot Jeff Gregory, 55, Remembered as Devoted Husband, Father and Man of Faith After diᩚadℓy Florida Plane 𝔠r𝘢sh

A childhood dream of flying became a lifelong career for Jeff Gregory. Now, the 55-year-old pilot is being remembered by friends and loved ones for his deep faith, dedication to his family and passion for aviation after a devastating plane 𝔠r𝘢sh in Florida.

As investigators continue examining the diᩚadℓy Learjet 60 𝔠r𝘢sh in Palm Beach County, Florida, more personal details are emerging about the people who lost their lives — including the aircraft’s captain, Jeff Gregory, 55.

For those who knew him, Jeff was much more than the pilot of the ill-fated aircraft. He was a devoted husband, a father of three, a lifelong Christian and a man who had dreamed of flying since he was a young boy.

Originally from Pennsylvania, Jeff was married to his wife, Cheryl. Friends have described him as hardworking, dependable and deeply committed to his family and faith.

A longtime friend and former neighbor recently shared heartfelt memories of growing up alongside Jeff, offering a glimpse into the life of the man behind the headlines.

Their families had known each other for years. Their parents worked at a chapel, and the two boys attended the same small Christian school.

Even during childhood, Jeff stood out for his fascination with aviation. His friend remembered his love for a leather bomber jacket and how flying had already become a dream he hoped to pursue one day.

That childhood ambition never faded.

In the 1990s, Jeff began flight training, taking the first steps toward turning his passion into a profession. Over time, he built a career in aviation, eventually becoming a captain qualified to fly the Learjet 60.

His journey from a young boy fascinated by aircraft to an experienced pilot was a source of pride for those who had watched him grow up.

But the tᩚraɢedy that took his life has now brought renewed attention to his final flight.

A final flight that ended in tᩚraɢedy

On Sunday, November 1, 2026, a Learjet 60 operated by Upper Jets crashed in the Greenacres area of Palm Beach County, Florida.

The aircraft had departed Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas and was traveling to North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas. Nine people were aboard — two crew members and seven passengers. All nine died.

The victims included Jeff, co-pilot Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, 20, Texas technology entrepreneur Adam Robinson, his wife Helen Sharp, their two young children, their nanny and two family friends.

The 𝔠r𝘢sh happened at approximately 12:50 p.m. local time near Military Trail. The aircraft struck the ground at an extremely high speed, producing a fireball and leaving a large crater. Debris was scattered across the surrounding area.

Hundreds of nearby residents were evacuated as emergency crews responded to the scene. Authorities also reported an injury to a person on the ground.

According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the flight crew had reported encountering light icing and moderate turbulence while cruising at approximately 35,000 feet.

The pilots requested permission to climb to 37,000 feet. Shortly afterward, the aircraft began losing altitude rapidly.

Air traffic control recordings captured the crew reporting an emergency, an overspeed condition and a descent that became increasingly difficult to control.

The situation deteriorated within minutes, ending with the aircraft crashing into the residential area.

One of the most emotional details to emerge from the aircraft’s final moments is a male voice apparently reciting the Lord’s Prayer.

Audio of the final radio communications, reported by several news outlets, captured the prayer in the background as the aircraft descended and the crew struggled to respond to the emergency.

The voice has been identified in media reports as belonging to Jeff Gregory.

For many who have since learned about his life, the detail carries particular significance. Friends described Christianity as an important part of Jeff’s identity, something that had been central to him since childhood.

The reported prayer has therefore become one of the most poignant details associated with the final moments of the flight.

However, the NTSB has not publicly confirmed the identity of the voice in the recording. The circumstances inside the cockpit and which pilot was physically controlling the aircraft during the emergency have also not been definitively established.

A life remembered beyond the cockpit

As news of the 𝔠r𝘢sh spread, Jeff’s church shared a message mourning his passing and remembering him through the lens of his Christian faith.

The tribute described him as someone who had gone home to be with the Lord, reflecting the faith that friends say had shaped his life from an early age.

For his wife, Cheryl, his three children, relatives and friends, the loss is deeply personal.

Those who knew Jeff are now remembering not only the experienced pilot involved in a national aviation tᩚraɢedy, but also the boy who dreamed of flying, the friend who grew up alongside them, and the family man whose life was built around the people and beliefs he cherished.

His story is a reminder that behind every name in a tragic headline is a person with a history, a family and dreams that once seemed full of possibility.

Investigation into the 𝔠r𝘢sh continues

The NTSB is leading the investigation, with assistance from the Federal Aviation Administration.

In an update on November 2, investigators said they had found indications that the aircraft may have begun breaking apart before hitting the ground. They are examining the wreckage and reviewing the aircraft’s final communications to establish what happened.

Ice accumulation, turbulence, precipitation and the aircraft’s rapid descent are among the issues being examined. Investigators have not determined the probable cause.

Officials have also raised questions about whether a cockpit voice recorder was installed and available for examination. The investigation remains ongoing, and further findings are expected as investigators recover and analyze evidence.

For Jeff Gregory’s loved ones, answers about the final flight may take time. But the memories shared by his childhood friend and church offer a picture of a life that extended far beyond the cockpit.

He was a husband, a father, a friend and a man who spent decades pursuing the dream he had carried since childhood.

May Jeff Gregory rest in peace, and may his family find strength and comfort in the memories he leaves behind.
