The officer arrived at the scene within a minute and discovered several people suffering from gunshot wounds.
Officers immediately began providing emergency medical assistance while additional emergency responders rushed to the location.
Nine people were ultimately identified as victims, ranging in age from 16 to 22.

POLICE INVESTIGATE WHAT LED TO THE GUNFIRE
Despite the large number of people attending the Halloween gathering, investigators said the party appeared to have been peaceful before the gunfire erupted.
Chief Simington explained that officers had been patrolling the neighborhood throughout the evening because of Halloween celebrations.
No disturbances had been reported or observed before the incident.
Investigators are now working to establish what happened in the moments leading up to the śh́óóting.
As of November 2, authorities had not determined what prompted the gunfire, whether one or multiple individuals opened fire, or whether anyone was specifically targeted.
Witnesses reportedly described the suspected šhσσtєr or shooters as Black males.
However, police had not announced any arrests, and investigators were continuing to gather evidence and interview witnesses.
Authorities are urging anyone who attended the gathering or witnessed the incident to come forward.
Investigators are particularly interested in cellphone videos, photographs, surveillance footage and any other recordings that could help reconstruct the events.
