Spanish soccer is mourning the loss of striker Jesús de Miguel Alameda, who died at the age of 30 after a serious incident during a professional match.
De Miguel, who played for CD Tenerife, was involved in a collision with FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono during Monday’s match.
The incident occurred as the striker chased a long ball near midfield and Owono came out of his penalty area to challenge for it.
De Miguel was left unconscious on the field, prompting an immediate response from medical personnel. Emergency treatment was carried out before he was transported by ambulance to hospital.
The match, which was tied 2-2 at the time, was abandoned following the incident.
CONDITION DETERIORATED OVERNIGHT
Tenerife initially announced that the player was in stable condition after being taken to hospital.
However, his neurological condition reportedly deteriorated overnight.
Despite the efforts of medical staff, De Miguel died at approximately 8 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
His dєatᩚh has left teammates, supporters and the wider soccer community devastated.
A CAREER BUILT THROUGH YEARS OF DETERMINATION
Known affectionately as “Demi” by teammates, De Miguel spent years working his way through Spanish professional soccer.
He represented several clubs before joining Castellón in 2023.
During the 2023-2024 campaign, he played an important role in the team’s promotion to Spain’s second division, scoring 16 goals.
His performances helped establish him as a key attacking player, and he later joined CD Tenerife in 2025.
For those who played alongside him, he was more than a striker. He was a teammate whose presence had become part of their everyday lives.
A YOUNG FAMILY LEFT HEARTBROKEN
Away from the pitch, De Miguel was a partner and father.
He leaves behind his partner and their young daughter, who was born in 2025.
His dєatᩚh means the little girl will grow up without the father who was part of the beginning of her life.
As tributes continue to arrive, thoughts across the soccer world have turned to the family facing the unimaginable task of saying goodbye.
CLUBS AND THE SOCCER WORLD PAY TRIBUTE
Messages of condolence have poured in from clubs, teammates and organizations throughout the sport.
Real Madrid, Barcelona and other major names in Spanish soccer expressed their sympathy to De Miguel’s loved ones and the CD Tenerife community.
The tributes reflect the impact of his passing far beyond the club he represented.
INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY
Spanish authorities have opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding De Miguel’s dєatᩚh.
The inquiry forms part of the procedure following a dєatᩚh classified as non-natural. Its existence does not, by itself, indicate that anyone acted improperly.
For now, the soccer community is remembering a player whose career was still unfolding — and a young father whose life ended far too soon.
Jesús de Miguel was 30 years old.
