POLICE REVEAL LATEST UPDATE IN JAMES CORLETT CASE AFTER 18-YEAR-OLD WAS FOUND IN LEICESTERSHIRE
The family of 18-year-old James Corlett is facing an unimaginable loss after police confirmed that his dєatᩚh is not being treated as suspicious, following the discovery of his body in Leicestershire.
James, from Swadlincote, Derbyshire, had been reported missing after failing to return home from a night out in Ashby-de-la-Zouch on Thursday, October 29.
His disappearance prompted an urgent search involving police officers and members of the local community. Friends and family were left increasingly worried as attempts to establish his whereabouts proved unsuccessful.
Sadly, on Saturday, October 31, police confirmed that a body had been discovered in Ashby-de-la-Zouch. The family was subsequently informed, bringing the search to a heartbreaking end.
POLICE CONFIRM dєatᩚh IS NOT BEING TREATED AS SUSPICIOUS
Following the discovery, Leicestershire Police initially described James’s dєatᩚh as unexplained, confirming that further enquiries were being carried out to establish the circumstances.
In an update issued on Monday, November 2, officers confirmed that his dєatᩚh was not believed to be suspicious.
Police also stated that a file would be prepared for HM Coroner, while James’s family continued to receive support from specially trained officers.
The clarification provided an important update on the investigation, although it did not publicly establish exactly what happened during the teenager’s final hours.
HOW JAMES DISAPPEARED
James had been out in Ashby-de-la-Zouch on the evening of Thursday, October 29, but did not return to his home in Swadlincote.
When he could not be contacted, concerns grew among those close to him. Derbyshire Police initially launched a missing-person investigation and appealed to the public for information.
Officers described his disappearance as completely out of character and said they were extremely concerned for his welfare.

On November 5, a further development emerged when Leicestershire Police confirmed that it had made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
The referral followed the circumstances surrounding the case and does not, by itself, mean that wrongdoing has been established.
The IOPC confirmed that it had received the referral and would assess the information before deciding what further action, if any, was required.
This is a separate oversight process and should not be confused with the police’s earlier assessment that James’s dєatᩚh was not being treated as suspicious.
