Donald William Breeden of Greenfield was booked into the Monterey County Jail on Friday, suspected of gunning down 15-year-old Marco Antonio Perez and 13-year-old Nathaniel Flores early Monday morning near Jetty Road in Moss Landing, police said.
The murder counts came with criminal street gang enhancements. Breeden’s bail was set at $2.035 million.

The two victims, both from Salinas, were killed shortly before 2 a.m. Monday when sheriff’s deputies rushed to the area following reports of gunfire.
Both boys were pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other people were also wounded and taken to a hospital.
Breeden’s arrest came after an investigation that included a search of a Greenfield home on Thursday, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Department.

Detectives descended on a residence in the 900 block of Maple Street, detained three people and combed the property for evidence. No one was arrested at the time.
Investigators have not said whether Breeden was among those detained.
The sheriff’s office has declined to release additional details.
