Molly Martens Names Newborn Son After Her Father Involved in Jason Corbett Case as Victim’s Family Breaks Silence

The birth of Molly Martens’ first child has reopened painful memories for the family of Irish father Jason Corbett, more than 11 years after his violent dєatᩚh in North Carolina.

Martens, 42, has welcomed a baby boy with her partner, Josh Parrott, 36. The child has reportedly been named Thomas Carter, after her father, Thomas Martens, who was also involved in the case surrounding Corbett’s dєatᩚh.

The news was reported in October 2026, but the exact date of the birth has not been publicly confirmed.

The name has drawn particular attention because Thomas Martens was alongside his daughter during the events that led to Jason Corbett’s dєatᩚh in August 2015.

Corbett, 39, was found dead inside his home in Davidson County, North Carolina, after suffering catastrophic head injuries caused by repeated blows with a baseball bat and a brick.

Molly and her father initially faced second-degree murder convictions in 2017. They maintained that they had acted in self-defense. Their convictions were later overturned, and in October 2023 they entered a plea agreement admitting voluntary manslaughter. Both were released from prison in June 2024 after serving just over four years.

The arrival of the baby prompted an emotional response from Jason’s family.

In a statement published on October 15 through the family’s Jason’s Journey page, relatives expressed their anguish over the birth and the decision to name the child after Thomas Martens.

The statement also expressed concern for the newborn, saying the family hoped he would be safe and protected as he grew up.

The reaction follows earlier comments from Jason’s children, Jack and Sarah, after news of Molly’s pregnancy became public in August.

Jack said he had little interest in Martens’ personal life but was deeply concerned about the welfare of the unborn child because of what he and his sister said they had experienced while growing up.

He said he hoped the baby would be born healthy and would never experience the kind of harm he and Sarah had described.

Sarah also said she could not separate the pregnancy news from the childhood experiences she and her brother had spoken about publicly and in court.

The siblings were young when their father died. They later returned to Ireland and were raised by their paternal aunt and uncle.

The new baby is Martens’ first child with Parrott, with whom she has reportedly been building a new life in Tennessee since her release from prison.

A family-support page was also created following the birth, inviting people to contribute meals and other assistance for the new parents.

Meanwhile, Jason’s relatives continue to commemorate his life and maintain his memory through the Jason’s Journey campaign.

For them, the latest development is not simply news of a new baby. It has brought the painful history of the case back into public view, while raising questions about how the next generation may eventually learn about the events surrounding Jason’s dєatᩚh.
