Convicted 𝘬iᩚller Molly Martens Welcomes Baby Boy 11 Years After Husband’s Brutal dєatᩚh as His Children Voice Their Fears

More than a decade after the 𝘬iᩚlling of Irish father Jason Corbett shocked families in Ireland and the United States, Molly Martens has entered a new chapter of her life, welcoming a baby boy with her new partner.
Martens, 42, gave birth to her first child with partner Josh Parrott, 36, in October 2026. The baby has reportedly been named Thomas Carter, after her father, Thomas Martens, who was also involved in the case surrounding Corbett’s dєatᩚh.
The birth has brought renewed attention to one of the most controversial criminal cases involving an American couple and an Irish family.
Jason Corbett, a 39-year-old businessman from Limerick, Ireland, was found dead inside his home in North Carolina on August 2, 2015. He had suffered catastrophic head injuries after being struck repeatedly with a baseball bat and a brick or similar object.
Molly, his wife, and her father, a former FBI agent, were initially convicted of second-degree murder in 2017 and sentenced to between 20 and 25 years in prison.
Both maintained that they had acted in self-defense during a violent confrontation. Their convictions were later overturned by the North Carolina Supreme Court in 2021, which ruled that errors during the original trial had denied them a fair trial.
Rather than face another trial, the pair accepted a plea agreement in October 2023, admitting to voluntary manslaughter. They were sentenced to four years and three months and released in June 2024 after receiving credit for time already served.
Since her release, Martens has largely kept a low profile. Reports in August 2026 revealed that she was pregnant and living with Parrott in Tennessee.
Her pregnancy immediately prompted emotional reactions from Corbett’s two children, Jack and Sarah, who were still young when their father was killed.
Jack said he had no interest in Martens’ personal life but was deeply concerned about the welfare of her unborn child. He spoke about the 𝘢bu𝘴e he and his sister said they had experienced while growing up and expressed fears that another child could face similar trauma.
Sarah also said she could not separate the pregnancy announcement from the experiences she and her brother had described in court and publicly.
The couple’s new baby has now become the focus of another emotional development for the Corbett family.
Following the birth, an online Meal Train page was reportedly established by Martens’ sister-in-law, Mary Reid-Martens, to organize meals and financial contributions for the new parents.
The page identified the baby as Thomas Carter and invited supporters to help the couple as they adjusted to life with a newborn.
Jason’s family, however, has continued to remember the man whose dєatᩚh changed their lives forever.
In a statement marking the 11th anniversary of his dєatᩚh in August, the Justice for Jason campaign said he remained deeply loved and missed, adding that the passage of time had not diminished the family’s grief.
The case also attracted renewed attention following the 2025 Netflix documentary A diᩚadℓy American Marriage, which revisited the events surrounding Jason’s dєatᩚh and the competing accounts presented by the people involved.
For the Corbett children, the arrival of a new baby does not erase the loss of their father or the experiences they say they endured. Their statements have made clear that the past remains deeply present, even as Martens begins a new family life.

More than 11 years after Jason’s dєatᩚh, the case continues to leave painful questions and sharply different perspectives among the people whose lives were changed that night.
