Florida Bank šhσσtєr’s Chilling Threat Before 𝘬iᩚlling Citibank Employee Over $2,500 Debt

A diᩚadℓy śh́óóting at a Citibank office complex in Tampa, Florida, was reportedly triggered by a dispute over just $2,500 in credit card debt. Investigators say the ɠυɳɱαɳ had threatened the company hours before driving to its campus and opening fire on employees.
Authorities identified the suspect as Jacob Pearson, 35, of Orlando. According to Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister, Pearson had become furious after receiving a court summons connected to an unpaid credit card balance of approximately $2,500.
On the morning of November 4, 2026, Pearson allegedly contacted a law office working with Citibank to handle the debt collection. During the call, he reportedly threatened to bring an AR-15 rifle and a bulletproof vest unless the legal proceedings were canceled.
The warning was taken seriously. Citibank security contacted Orlando police and requested a welfare check at Pearson’s home. However, officers arrived after he had already left. His wife reportedly told police that he appeared angry but did not know where he had gone.
Shortly before noon, Pearson arrived at Citibank’s Sabal Center campus in Tampa, approximately 90 miles from his home. Authorities say he crashed his vehicle through a security gate and entered the courtyard carrying a rifle.
He then allegedly opened fire on the first employee he encountered, 41-year-old Leanne Selman. Selman, who had worked for Citibank for nine years as a learning advisor with its security and investigative services team, was fatally wounded.
According to the sheriff, Pearson’s rifle malfunctioned during the attack. He reportedly returned to his vehicle to retrieve a handgun before approaching Selman again as she attempted to escape.
The śh́óóting continued inside the office complex, where Pearson encountered 38-year-old John Fraley, a member of Citibank’s armed security team. Fraley confronted the ɠυɳɱαɳ in the cafeteria and shot him five times, bringing the attack to an end.
Pearson was transported to Tampa General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:12 p.m.
More than 3,200 people were on the campus when the śh́óóting began. Four additional people were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and were later released. Hundreds of employees fled or sheltered in nearby buildings as law enforcement officers searched the complex.
Sheriff Chronister praised Fraley for confronting the ɠυɳɱαɳ, saying his actions likely prevented further loss of life. The sheriff described the attack as a targeted assault against Citibank employees, whom Pearson allegedly blamed for his financial dispute.
Court records reportedly showed that Pearson owed $2,556.40 on a Citibank credit card and had been summoned to appear in a small-claims case.

The investigation has revealed a disturbing sequence of events: an alleged threat, a police welfare check, and then a diᩚadℓy attack at a workplace filled with thousands of employees. One Citibank worker lost her life, while the armed security officer’s intervention brought the violence to an end.
