Two Female Skydivers, 29 and 56, Die in Horrifying Midair Collision After Parachutes Become Entangled

Two experienced female skydivers have died after colliding in midair during an organized jumping event in Southern California, in an accident that unfolded just moments before they were due to land.

The tᩚraɢedy happened on Friday, November 6, at Skydive Elsinore in Lake Elsinore, Riverside County. The women collided approximately 150 feet above the ground, causing their parachutes to become tangled. Both suffered ᑕriᩚtiᩚcal injuries when they hit the ground and later died at a hospital.

Authorities identified the victims as Levi Pimentel, 29, of Aurora, Illinois, and Georgia Jean, 56, of Box Elder, South Dakota.

A Jump That Took a Sudden and diᩚadℓy Turn

The two women were among a group of approximately 20 experienced female skydivers who had taken off together from an aircraft at around 12,500 feet.

The group was participating in training for an ambitious skydiving formation, with members attempting to establish a new California record for the largest women’s upright formation.

According to Skydive Elsinore, the free-fall portion of the jump proceeded normally. Both women also deployed their parachutes as expected.

But as the skydivers prepared to land, disaster struck.

At approximately 150 feet above the ground, Pimentel and Jean collided. Their parachutes became entangled, leaving both unable to complete a safe landing.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene after receiving reports of an air emergency shortly before noon. The women were transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital in ᑕriᩚtiᩚcal condition, where they were later pronounced dead.

Two Experienced Women Remembered

The deaths have sent shockwaves through the skydiving community, particularly because both women were licensed and experienced participants.

Jean had been skydiving since 2015 and had completed more than 1,700 jumps. She was also the founder of Circle Evolution, a company connected to her spiritual and personal-development work.

Pimentel was a lead instructor at iFLY Naperville, an indoor skydiving company in Illinois, according to her professional profile.

Both had traveled from out of town to participate in the organized event.

Skydive Elsinore expressed its condolences to their families, friends and fellow skydivers, saying the company was grieving alongside everyone affected by the tᩚraɢedy.

Investigators Examine What Went Wrong

The skydiving center said there was no indication of equipment malfunction. However, the precise circumstances that caused the two women to collide have not been fully established.

The Federal Aviation Administration was notified and is expected to collect the parachutes as part of the investigation. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office is also investigating the incident.

It remains unclear whether weather conditions or other factors contributed to the collision.

The tᩚraɢedy is a sobering reminder of the risks involved in even highly organized extreme-sports events. According to the United States Parachute Association, there were 16 skydiving fatalities among approximately 3.47 million jumps in 2025.

For the families and friends of Jean and Pimentel, however, the statistics offer little comfort. Two women who traveled to California to pursue a sport they loved never made it home.
