Mother of Two Falls to Her dєatᩚh From 7th-Floor Hotel Window After Aluminum Frame Suddenly Gives Way

A 26-year-old mother of two plunged to her dєatᩚh from a seventh-floor hotel window in Brazil after the aluminum structure she was leaning against suddenly came loose, with heartbreaking CCTV footage capturing the moments before the fatal fall.

Renata Rebeca Negrão Saldanha dos Santos died in the early hours of November 3 at the Rio Poty Hotel in São Luís, in the northeastern state of Maranhão.

She had been walking along a hotel corridor with her boyfriend when the couple stopped near a window, apparently looking for the key to their room.

Security camera footage shows Renata sitting on the window ledge and leaning backward. Moments later, the aluminum structure gave way, sending her falling backward from the seventh floor.

Her boyfriend appeared frozen in shock for several seconds before a hotel employee approached.

Renata landed on a canopy above the hotel’s entrance. Although people rushed to help and first aid was provided, she died from her injuries.

Police chief George Marques, who is leading the investigation, said the footage showed no evidence that her boyfriend had pushed or physically attacked her.

“He wasn’t even near her,” he said, according to reports.

The boyfriend, identified as Leonardo Augusto Pinto França, was questioned by police and subsequently released. Authorities said he was not being treated as a suspect.

Investigators said the couple appeared to have been drinking and were possibly intoxicated at the time. The man reportedly told police he could not remember the moment Renata fell.

The couple had traveled from the state of Pará to São Luís for a poker tournament and had been staying at the hotel since October 28. They were expected to return home on the day of the accident.

But the investigation is now focusing on a crucial question: Why did the window structure suddenly detach?

Forensic experts have examined the hotel corridor and the damaged window to determine what caused the aluminum frame to come loose. Maranhão’s Public Security Secretariat said there were not yet any technical conclusions establishing the cause or identifying possible structural irregularities.

The hotel expressed its condolences to Renata’s family and friends and said it was cooperating with authorities.

Renata’s dєatᩚh has left behind two young children. Her mother, Betty Negrão, spoke of the unbearable pain of receiving her daughter’s body instead of welcoming her home from the trip.

“My daughter went out to have fun, and I’m receiving my daughter in a coffin,” she said.

Her body was transported to Ananindeua, in Pará, where her family prepared to hold her funeral.

While police are treating the incident as an accidental dєatᩚh, the forensic investigation into the hotel’s window structure remains ongoing. For Renata’s family, the devastating loss has also left unanswered questions about how such a tᩚraɢedy could happen inside a hotel.
