Investigators Unearth Key Piece of Learjet Engine After Florida 𝔠r𝘢sh Killed Nine, Including Two Young Children

Federal investigators have recovered a crucial piece of an engine from the wreckage of a Learjet that plunged into a Florida neighborhood, 𝘬iᩚlling all nine people aboard.

The discovery came as investigators continued excavating the massive impact site near Greenacres in Palm Beach County, hoping to uncover clues about what caused the business jet to suddenly lose control and 𝔠r𝘢sh.

The Bombardier Learjet 60 was flying from Austin, Texas, to North Eleuthera in the Bahamas when it went down on November 1, 2026. All seven passengers and both crew members were killed.

According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), excavation work began late Wednesday, November 4, and continued into Thursday. Crews had been working to remove water from the large crater created by the impact so they could reach buried sections of the aircraft.

During the operation, investigators recovered a portion of one of the jet’s engines. Other pieces of wreckage were discovered away from the main impact site, including debris on the roofs of nearby homes and buildings.

The engine discovery is particularly important because investigators are trying to reconstruct the aircraft’s final moments and determine what happened before it struck the ground.

It is not the first significant piece of evidence recovered from the 𝔠r𝘢sh.

Earlier in the investigation, authorities found three sections of the aircraft’s left elevator, a movable part of the tail that helps control the plane’s pitch. The pieces were scattered between approximately 1.3 and 3.8 miles from the 𝔠r𝘢sh site.

NTSB investigator Tom Chapman said the discovery indicated that at least part of the aircraft had separated before impact. However, officials have not determined whether the elevator’s separation contributed to the 𝔠r𝘢sh or occurred as a result of the forces acting on the plane during its descent.

Investigators are also examining the frightening final communications between the pilots and air traffic control.

Before the 𝔠r𝘢sh, the crew reported encountering clear icing and moderate turbulence at approximately 35,000 feet. They requested permission to climb to a higher altitude in search of smoother conditions.

Less than 30 seconds after receiving approval, the crew issued a mayday call. The aircraft was reportedly descending rapidly in an overspeed condition.

Weather conditions are expected to be a major focus of the investigation, but authorities have not identified an official cause.

The nine victims included Austin technology entrepreneur Adam Robinson, 45, his partner Helen Sharp, 40, and their two young children, Emma, 4, and Charlie, 2. The family’s nanny, Ana Maria Ramirez Cetina, was also aboard, along with passengers Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr.

The two pilots were Captain Jeffrey Scott Gregory, 55, and co-pilot Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, 20.

The tᩚraɢedy unfolded near a residential community, where the aircraft’s impact created a massive crater and scattered wreckage across the surrounding area. No one aboard survived.

The NTSB is urging residents who discover possible aircraft debris not to keep, move, alter or dispose of it. Even small fragments could contain evidence that helps investigators understand the disaster.

For the families of the nine victims, the investigation is an important step toward understanding why their loved ones never reached their destination.

But despite the recovery of the engine fragment and pieces of the aircraft’s tail, one ᑕriᩚtiᩚcal question remains unanswered: What caused the Learjet to plunge out of the sky?
