“Fury” (2014) is a war drama film set during the final months of World War II. Directed by David Ayer, the movie stars Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Michael Peña, and Jon Bernthal.
The story follows a battle-hardened U.S. Army sergeant named Don “Wardaddy” Collier (Brad Pitt), who commands a Sherman tank named Fury and its five-man crew. As the Allies make their final push into Nazi Germany, Wardaddy and his crew are tasked with dangerous missions behind enemy lines. The team includes Boyd “Bible” Swan (Shia LaBeouf), the deeply religious gunner; Trini “Gordo” Garcia (Michael Peña), the tank’s driver; and Grady “Coon-Ass” Travis (Jon Bernthal), the loader.
A young and inexperienced typist, Norman Ellison (Logan Lerman), is assigned to join the crew as a replacement for a fallen soldier. Norman is initially horrified by the brutality of war and struggles to adapt to the harsh realities of combat. Under Wardaddy’s stern guidance, Norman gradually transforms from a naive recruit to a competent and resilient soldier.
As the crew undertakes a series of perilous missions, they face overwhelming odds and witness the horrors of war. The film climaxes with an intense and prolonged battle where Fury and its crew are surrounded by German troops. Despite being outnumbered and outgunned, Wardaddy and his men fight bravely to hold their position.
“Fury” is praised for its realistic portrayal of tank warfare, strong performances, and gritty depiction of the physical and psychological toll of war. The film explores themes of camaraderie, sacrifice, and the moral complexities of combat.
