Women & Infants Hospital has denied all claims in a civil complaint filed by Lindsay Clancy, the Massachusetts woman accused of 𝘬iᩚlling her three young children.
Clancy’s criminal trial ended in a mistrial after a jury deadlocked 11-1, with the majority of jurors wanting to find her not guilty by reason of insanity.

Prosecutors argued Clancy strangled Cora, 5; Dawson, 3; and Callan, 8 months, in a premeditated crime. Her defense team conceded that she killed her children during the trial but said she was not criminally responsible for her actions because she was suffering from postpartum psychosis. Since the mistrial, defense attorney Kevin Reddington has cast doubt on Clancy’s confession.
Clancy filed a lawsuit against several defendants, including doctors who treated her and hospitals where they worked. She alleged she was overmedicated and her treatment was not managed properly.
Clancy admitted herself to a partial hospitalization program at Women & Infants Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island, a month before allegedly 𝘬iᩚlling her children but was discharged after one day because it said she was not suffering from postpartum depression, according to the lawsuit.

The lawsuit alleges the team felt her symptoms were induced by medication rather than purely depressive and, according to the filing, doctors failed to identify a more appropriate treatment facility.
In a recent filing, Women & Infants Hospital denied all claims in the lawsuit.
It has not yet been determined whether the state will retry Clancy on criminal charges.
