END OF AN ERA?

STRICTLY STAR ANTON DU BEKE MAKES MAJOR CAREER ANNOUNCEMENT AMID BBC FUTURE SPECULATION
Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke has revealed an exciting new musical project just days after reports raised questions about the future of the BBC show’s judging panel.

But his latest announcement does not mean he is leaving the ballroom.

Anton Du Beke has given fans something new to look forward to after announcing the release of a Christmas single — a long-held ambition for the much-loved dancer and television personality.

The 60-year-old Strictly Come Dancing judge revealed on October 20 that his festive track, Dance My Way to Christmas, will be released on November 6, 2026.

The announcement comes at a time when questions are being raised about the future of the BBC show’s judging panel, with reports suggesting that contracts for all four judges could be reviewed at the end of the current series.

For fans who have followed Anton’s journey from professional dancer to television judge, the timing has naturally attracted attention.

However, Anton has not announced that he is leaving Strictly Come Dancing.

His confirmed news concerns his musical ambitions, while the future of the judging panel remains uncertain.
“IT’S A DREAM COME TRUE”
In a festive announcement video, Anton appeared beside a Christmas tree wearing a seasonal jumper before introducing his new song.

The track, which has a classic swing style, was co-written with songwriter Jacqui Hicks and features vocals from Lance Ellington, who has performed with the Strictly music team.

Anton said releasing a Christmas single was something he had wanted to do for as long as he could remember.

He explained that Christmas was the most magical time of year for him and that music played an important role in making the season memorable.

The prospect of having his own song included in people’s festive playlists, he said, would be a dream come true.

The release represents another opportunity for Anton to showcase his musical interests beyond his familiar role behind the Strictly judges’ desk.

WHY ARE FANS QUESTIONING HIS FUTURE ON STRICTLY?

The announcement follows reports that the contracts of Anton, Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse are due for review after the 2026 series.

According to reports published by The Sun and the Daily Mail, the BBC will need to renegotiate arrangements with the judges if they are to return for the next series.

Shirley Ballas, who became head judge in 2017, has attracted particular attention amid speculation about whether she will continue in the role.

However, these reports have not confirmed that any of the four judges will leave.

No official announcement has established that Anton is preparing to depart.

The distinction matters: contract discussions can lead to changes, but they do not automatically mean a television personality is quitting.

For now, Anton remains part of the current Strictly judging panel.

FROM THE DANCE FLOOR TO THE JUDGES’ DESK
Anton has been associated with Strictly Come Dancing since the programme launched in 2004.

He initially became known to viewers as a professional dancer, partnering celebrity contestants and helping them learn ballroom and Latin routines.

His charm, theatrical performances and distinctive sense of humour made him a recognisable part of the show.

In 2021, he moved to the judging panel, initially appearing as a guest judge before becoming a permanent member.

The transition allowed viewers to see his expertise from another perspective as he assessed performances and offered contestants feedback.

Over more than two decades, Anton has become closely associated with Strictly’s identity.

That long history helps explain why reports about the judges’ contracts have generated so much discussion among fans.

A FESTIVE TOUR IS ALSO ON THE WAY
Anton is also preparing for a new live production, Anton at Christmas, which is scheduled to tour the UK from December 10 to December 22, 2026.

The Christmas single will form part of his festive entertainment plans, giving audiences another chance to experience his musical and performance talents.

Anton previously released the album From the Top in 2017, featuring interpretations of well-known classics.

His latest project builds on that musical background while giving him the chance to explore a seasonal swing sound.

The combination of a new single and live performances marks an active period in his career, regardless of what decisions may eventually be made about Strictly’s judging panel.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT FOR STRICTLY COME DANCING?

The BBC programme is already experiencing a period of change, following the departure of former presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman and the arrival of a new hosting team.

Any future changes to the judges would represent another significant development for the long-running entertainment show.

But the available information does not establish that Anton’s Christmas release is connected to a decision to leave the programme.

Until the BBC or Anton makes a formal announcement about his future, reports about possible departures should be treated as speculation rather than confirmed news.

A NEW CHAPTER — BUT NOT A CONFIRMED GOODBYE
Anton Du Beke has spent years entertaining audiences with his dancing, warmth and humour.

His latest announcement gives fans a different kind of performance to anticipate as the festive season approaches.

The news has arrived amid questions about Strictly’s future, but it is not a farewell announcement.

His Christmas single, Dance My Way to Christmas, is scheduled for release on November 6, with his festive tour following in December.

For now, Anton is pursuing a musical ambition while remaining part of Strictly Come Dancing.

Whether the judging panel will look different next year remains to be seen — but fans should not mistake his new song for confirmation that he is leaving the BBC show.
