“HE WAS THE LOVE OF MY LIFE” — LINDSEY BURROW REVEALS THE HEARTBREAK THAT STILL HAUNTS HER TWO YEARS AFTER LOSING ROB

More than two years after rugby league legend Rob Burrow died aged just 41, his wife Lindsey has spoken movingly about the grief that continues to follow her — while raising their three children and keeping the memory of their beloved father alive.

For Lindsey Burrow, the world has continued to turn since losing her husband, but life has never been quite the same.

Rob, the former Leeds Rhinos star who inspired millions during his courageous battle with motor neurone disease (MND), died in June 2024. He was just 41.

Now, as Lindsey continues to navigate life without the man she had loved since they were teenagers, she has shared an emotional glimpse into the reality of grief, the memories that still bring tears and the three children who give her strength to keep going.

“It’s heartbreaking that he isn’t here,” Lindsey has said, reflecting on the loss of the husband and father who meant so much to their family.

THE PAIN THAT CAN RETURN WITHOUT WARNING

Grief does not always arrive on anniversaries or special occasions. Sometimes, it appears in the middle of an ordinary day.

Lindsey has explained how a familiar song while driving can suddenly bring Rob back to mind, making the absence of her husband feel painfully real all over again.

Seeing other fathers spending time with their children can also remind her of the moments Rob should still be sharing with their family.

She has spoken candidly about how much she misses the life they once imagined together — the ordinary family days, the milestones and the future they expected to grow old sharing.

Despite the pain, Lindsey remains grateful for the years they had together.

“Rob was the love of my life,” she said, making clear that no one could ever take his place.

Lindsey and Rob shared three children: Macy, Maya and Jackson.

Since Rob’s dєatᩚh, Lindsey has continued raising them while helping them navigate the loss of their father.

She has described the children as her greatest source of strength, saying they have helped her more than they may ever realise.

Although they miss their dad terribly, Lindsey believes the courage they have shown reflects the example he set during his illness.

Rob was known not only for his achievements on the rugby field but also for his devotion to his family. Lindsey recalled how he would often be the first to leave an event because he wanted to get home to his children.

He treasured the simple moments with them — reading bedtime stories, playing in the garden and being present for their activities.

Those everyday memories now carry a significance that is difficult to put into words.

A LOVE THAT CONTINUES BEYOND LOSS

Rob was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in December 2019, at just 37 years old.

The progressive condition gradually affected his movement and ability to communicate, transforming life for the entire family.

Yet Rob used his experience to raise awareness of MND and help generate support for research and families affected by the disease.

Alongside former teammate Kevin Sinfield, he became a powerful advocate for the MND community, inspiring people across Britain through his determination and openness.

For Lindsey, however, his greatest legacy is deeply personal: the husband who loved her, the father who adored their children and the man who taught his family to cherish the time they had together.

She has also described finding comfort in small reminders of Rob, including white feathers that appeared at meaningful moments after his dєatᩚh.

These experiences have helped her feel connected to him as she continues to build a life for herself and their children.

⚠️ WHAT ABOUT CLAIMS OF A NEW ILLNESS?

Some social media posts have paired Lindsey’s emotional reflections with claims that she has received a frightening medical diagnosis of her own.

However, the recent credible reports reviewed for this article do not confirm that claim. Without an official statement from Lindsey or reliable reporting, it would be misleading to present a new diagnosis as fact.

What is confirmed is that Lindsey continues to face the enormous emotional challenge of losing her husband while raising their three children and carrying forward the causes that mattered to him.

Her story deserves compassion without adding unverified medical claims to an already painful chapter of her life.

“THEY’RE THE REASON I WAKE UP WITH A SMILE”

Lindsey has promised to keep living life to the fullest, just as she and Rob had resolved to do after his diagnosis.

There are good days and difficult days, and the grief has not simply disappeared with the passing of time.

But through their children, treasured memories and continued work supporting the MND community, Rob’s influence remains part of the family’s everyday life.

He may no longer be physically beside them, but the love he gave them continues to shape who they are and how they move forward.

Rob Burrow’s life was far too short, but the courage, kindness and love he left behind continue to inspire countless people. And for Lindsey and their children, his memory will always be part of their family. 🤍🕊️
