“He’s Not Responsive”: Chilling 911 Call Reveals Teacher’s Warning Before Florida Boy, 5, Was Crushed by Classroom Board

A newly released 911 recording has revealed the desperate moments after a five-year-old boy was struck by a heavy interactive classroom display at a Florida elementary school, raising troubling questions about whether concerns about the equipment had been reported before the tᩚraɢedy.
Bellamy Dawkins-Morris died on October 7, 2026, after a large Promethean display board fell on him inside Riviera Elementary School in Palm Bay, Florida.
In the emergency call, a distressed school employee tells the dispatcher that the board had fallen on the child. About a minute later, the caller says the boy is not responding.
The recording also captures the employee saying, “And I asked [someone] to tighten this the other day,” according to audio reported by local news outlet WESH. The remark has drawn renewed attention to whether the equipment had been adequately secured and whether earlier concerns were addressed.
Bellamy’s family said they were told the boy had been moving the display back and forth before it tipped over. Relatives have questioned whether the heavy screen was properly installed and whether enough precautions were taken to protect students.
School staff immediately called emergency services and began lifesaving efforts. Bellamy was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
Following his dєatᩚh, Brevard Public Schools announced inspections of Promethean boards across its campuses. The district has said the displays were installed by a licensed third-party vendor and that it is cooperating with investigators. A later district statement said inspections had found no pattern of improper installations, while an independent investigation remained ongoing.
Bellamy’s family has sought answers about how the display came down and whether the tᩚraɢedy could have been prevented. Their attorneys are investigating the equipment’s installation, maintenance and safety.

The school district and police have not publicly announced a final determination explaining why the board fell or who, if anyone, may be legally responsible.
The investigation remains ongoing, and the 911 recording has intensified scrutiny of the events leading up to the child’s dєatᩚh.
