Family’s Hopes Shattered After Woman Found in Mexico Is Ruled Out as Missing Arizona Woman

A family searching for answers about a missing Arizona woman has suffered another heartbreaking setback after authorities confirmed that a woman found in Mexico was not their missing loved one.
Shayna Feinman disappeared in March 2024 after leaving to walk to a friend’s home in the Seligman area of Arizona. More than two years later, the case remains unresolved, leaving her family waiting for answers.
On October 23, 2026, authorities in Tijuana, Mexico, located a woman whose appearance reportedly matched Feinman’s. Mexican officials initially identified her as the missing American woman and took her to a safe location while arrangements were considered for contact with U.S. authorities and her family.
The news raised hopes that Feinman might finally have been found alive.
However, her family remained cautious. Her sister, Kara Feinman, said she did not recognize the woman and could not confirm that she was her missing sister.
Authorities Confirm the Woman Was Someone Else
On October 27, the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office announced that U.S. authorities had used physical evidence to establish that the woman found in Mexico was not Shayna Feinman.
The confirmation dashed hopes that the discovery would bring the family the reunion they had been waiting for.
Authorities have not publicly provided a new identity for the woman found in Tijuana. Investigators in Arizona continue working to determine what happened to Feinman.
A Disappearance That Remains Unexplained
Feinman was reported missing on March 9, 2024, after she failed to arrive at a friend’s home. Her vehicle was later found near a property where she had been staying, and her cellphone was discovered on nearby land.
In 2024, two men were charged in connection with her suspected 𝘬iᩚlling and disappearance. However, court records cited in media reports indicate that the murder cases against both men were dismissed in January 2025. Feinman’s body has never been found, and her disappearance remains unresolved.

A $20,000 reward is still being offered for information that could help investigators locate her.
For Feinman’s family, the latest development means returning to the painful uncertainty that has defined the case for more than two years. The woman found in Mexico was not the person they hoped she would be, and the question of what happened to Shayna Feinman remains unanswered.
