A heroic South African dad shot dead a carjacker to protect his daughter from an armed ambush outside their home — getting him hailed as being “Chuck Norris and John Wick rolled into one.”
Wild video showed the dad unleashing a volley of śh́óts at the thieves who had seemingly eyed an opportunity to wreak havoc on his family just four days after moving into their Pinetown, South Africa home.
The dad – identified as Sidney Hill – pulled out of his driveway late on Oct. 9 when he suddenly came under fire from two armed men who had jumped out of the back of a Renault Kiger.

He then whipped out his gun from his waistband and retaliated – all while protecting his terrified daughter sitting next to him, the video shows.
During the shootout, some 27 śh́óts rang out in just 14 seconds — with one hitting one of the gang in the head, 𝘬iᩚlling him.
“It was like a warzone with bullet after bullet,” said a neighbor, who was watching TV when the commotion unfolded outside.
“It went on for about 20 seconds but we stayed inside until the police turned up and when we came out there was a body lying dead in a drive.”
The dad, an operations manager in Durban, has been hailed for his sharpshooting skills.
“This man is a hero,” said Marshall Security official Andreas Mathios, who is known as the “Durban superman” among locals.
“He firstly and instinctively made sure that his family was safe. He was consistently alert, and even though there was some sort of delay in returning fire when he was fired upon at the right time, he managed to return fire and neutralize the threat. I commend him for his actions.”
Footage of the dad’s heroism has gone viral – with one commenter describing him as “Chuck Norris and John Wick rolled into one.”

“Of all the people the carjackers could have picked on they got him lol!,” they said, blasting the bungling carjackers.
The four other men fled the scene; authorities have not disclosed their conditions.
Three attempted murder investigations, as well as a carjacking probe have been opened.
