THREE-YEAR-OLD KALEB’S REMARKABLE JOURNEY WITH RARE FEINGOLD SYNDROME — FROM LOSING BOTH FEET TO A NEW CHAPTER

Three-year-old Kaleb Phillips is just weeks away from taking another major step forward in his remarkable journey.

The little boy from Cullman, Alabama, was born with Feingold syndrome and faced challenges with both of his feet from the very beginning. He was born with just one toe on one leg and a small limb on the other, and both feet were surgically removed when he was only eight months old.

Despite everything he has faced, Kaleb has always been an active and determined little boy.

He has already learned to move around with prosthetics, but recently began experiencing pain. Last month, he underwent surgery at Shriners Children’s Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina, where surgeons carefully reshaped the ends of his legs so they could be fitted with new prosthetics.

Now, Kaleb is wearing casts and patiently waiting for the next chapter.

He has already gone through three sets of casts, proudly decorated in Auburn orange and blue. In just a few weeks, they are expected to come off — bringing him one step closer to receiving his new prosthetic legs.

“Kaleb just boot scoots around to wherever he wants to go,” his mother Juliane said. “Not moving is not an option for him.”

The past few weeks have been challenging for Kaleb, his parents Josh and Juliane, and his brother Asher. He will miss this season of T-ball while he recovers, but his family is focused on what comes next.

“We know this is only a temporary setback,” his family shared. “Kaleb has always shown us that he can adapt, keep going and find a way forward.”

Since his surgery, Kaleb has continued to show the same determination that has carried him through so much of his young life.

This summer will be spent rebuilding his strength and learning to use his new prosthetics. And although the journey has not always been easy, Kaleb is already proving that his circumstances will not define what he can accomplish.

Soon, those casts will come off.

And for this little boy who has never accepted the idea of standing still, a brand-new pair of prosthetics could open the door to another exciting chapter.
