15-YEAR-OLD JAVITS FRIMPONG KI//ED ON HIS WAY TO SCHOOL IN THE BRONX AS HEARTBROKEN FATHER SEEKS ANSWERS ABOUT REPORTED BULLYING

A 15-year-old boy who had moved from Ghana to New York in search of a better future was fatally shot while walking to school. Now, his grieving father is demanding answers as investigators search for those responsible.

A father in the Bronx is facing the unimaginable loss of his teenage son after 15-year-old Javits Frimpong was fatally shot while walking to school on the morning of October 29, 2026.

What makes the tᩚraɢedy even more heartbreaking are the concerns Javits had reportedly shared with his father just days before his final journey.

According to his father, Thomas Frimpong, the teenager had been experiencing bullying at school and had repeatedly complained about another student making his life difficult.

Now, as investigators work to establish exactly what happened, the grieving father is left with painful questions about whether the reported bullying may have played a role in his son’s dєatᩚh.

The śh́óóting happened shortly before 9:30 a.m. near East 171st Street and Crotona Place in the Claremont neighborhood of the Bronx, New York City.

Javits was walking toward school when the incident unfolded, just a short distance from the apartment he shared with his father.

According to police, officers responding to reports of a śh́óóting found the 15-year-old with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

He was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, but doctors were unable to save him.

Surveillance footage obtained by local news outlets reportedly captured terrifying moments in which Javits could be seen running through the neighborhood as another person dressed in dark clothing appeared to chase him.

In the footage, the teenager runs for his life before eventually collapsing on the street.

The images have left residents deeply shaken, particularly because the victim was a schoolboy simply making his way to class.

Investigators believe several teenagers may have been involved. Authorities were searching for three males believed to be between 16 and 18 years old, who were reportedly seen wearing dark clothing and blue surgical masks.

As of the latest reports, no arrests had been announced, and police had not established a motive.

For Thomas Frimpong, the loss is made even more painful by what his son had told him in the days leading up to the śh́óóting.

Speaking to CBS New York, Thomas said Javits had recently opened up about being repeatedly bothered by another student, particularly during lunchtime.

“He said, ‘Dad, anytime I am going to lunch, that guy keep on bullying me,’” his father recalled.

Javits had reportedly told him that he had already raised the issue several times.

Thomas also said the school’s principal had contacted him about an incident involving two boys who had been fighting with his son. According to the father, the two students were subsequently suspended.

A school bus attendant separately told CBS New York that he was aware of at least two students being suspended in recent weeks over bullying involving Javits.

However, authorities have not confirmed that the reported school incidents were connected to the fatal śh́óóting.

Investigators have not publicly established why Javits was targeted or whether the attack was related to the alleged bullying.

For his father, those unanswered questions are now part of an unbearable grief.

A boy who dreamed of becoming a doctor

Javits had moved from Ghana to New York in 2025 to reunite with his father and begin a new chapter of his life.

Thomas had hoped his son would have greater opportunities in America and the chance to build a promising future.

He described Javits as a quiet, intelligent boy who rarely went out and focused on his education.

His son had dreams of becoming a physician.

“He was very clever, so he always say he want to be a physician,” Thomas told CBS New York.

The father also recalled the devastating moment he learned what had happened.

According to his account, the school principal contacted him with the news that his son had been shot.

Thomas rushed to the hospital, hoping for the best, but instead received the news no parent should ever have to hear.

“It’s not easy for me. He’s my everything,” he said.

His words reflect the devastating reality of a father who had brought his child across continents, hoping to give him a better life, only to lose him so suddenly.

Classmates gather to remember Javits and demand justice

The tᩚraɢedy has deeply affected students, teachers and residents throughout the Bronx community.

On October 30, family members, religious leaders and community members gathered for a vigil to remember Javits and pray for his loved ones.

On November 2, students at Dreamyard Preparatory School held another silent vigil in his honor.

They carried signs bearing messages including “Justice for Javits,” “Forever 15” and “Protect kids, not guns.”

Classmates also spoke about the fear and sadness that have spread through their school following the śh́óóting.

Some students called for stronger efforts to address bullying and prevent violence, saying that school should be a place where young people feel safe.

Students also organized a walkout on November 2 to speak out against bullying and gun violence.

The demonstrations have turned Javits’ dєatᩚh into a wider conversation about the safety of teenagers and the support available to students experiencing harassment.

His mother is still in Ghana as the family prepares to say goodbye

Another heartbreaking part of the family’s story is that Javits’ mother was still in Ghana following his dєatᩚh.

She had not been living in New York with her son and husband, and the family faced the painful prospect of arranging his farewell while separated by an ocean.

On November 1, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced that President Donald Trump had agreed to grant Javits’ mother a visa so she could travel to the United States to attend her son’s funeral.

The announcement offered a measure of hope to a family already devastated by an unimaginable loss.

Ghanaian officials have also expressed concern over the 𝘬iᩚlling and called for justice.

An investigation continues as a father waits for answers

As of November 3, investigators were still working to identify those responsible for Javits Frimpong’s dєatᩚh.

Police have not publicly confirmed a motive, and the connection between the reported bullying incidents and the śh́óóting remains unproven.

Thomas Frimpong has called for those responsible to come forward and face justice.

Meanwhile, Javits’ classmates, neighbors and loved ones continue to remember a teenager whose future was cut tragically short.

He had come to America with dreams of becoming a doctor. He had a family who loved him, a school community that remembers him and an entire future waiting ahead.

Instead, his father is left grieving a son he had hoped to watch grow up.

For those who knew Javits, the message on the students’ signs says it all: “Forever 15.”

And as the investigation continues, one question remains at the heart of this tᩚraɢedy: Could more have been done to protect a teenager who had reportedly been asking for help?
