20-YEAR-OLD PILOT SENT A HEARTBREAKING FINAL TEXT TO HER BOYFRIEND JUST MINUTES BEFORE diᩚadℓy PLANE 𝔠r𝘢sh

“I’ve got turbulence, I’ve got ice.” Those were reportedly among the final words 20-year-old co-pilot Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras sent to her boyfriend before a Learjet plunged from the sky in Florida, 𝘬iᩚlling all nine people aboard.

A 20-year-old pilot who had dreamed of flying since childhood sent a brief but haunting message to her boyfriend just minutes before the aircraft she was aboard crashed in South Florida, claiming the lives of everyone on board.

Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras was serving as the co-pilot of a Learjet 60 traveling from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas on Sunday, November 1, 2026, when the aircraft encountered increasingly dangerous conditions over Palm Beach County, Florida.

According to her family, Nathalia contacted her boyfriend shortly before the 𝔠r𝘢sh, describing two concerning conditions: turbulence and ice.

Her final reported message was simple:

“I’ve got turbulence, I’ve got ice.”

The message was reportedly sent around 12:40 p.m. The aircraft crashed approximately 10 minutes later, around 12:50 p.m., according to her stepfather, Thiago Corteleti, who spoke with the New York Post.

What began as an ordinary communication between two young pilots would become one of the most heartbreaking details to emerge from the tᩚraɢedy.

Nathalia was only 20 years old, but aviation had already become a major part of her life.

She earned her private pilot’s license at just 17 while still attending high school in Florida. At the time, she proudly joked about being able to fly an airplane before she was legally old enough to drive a car.

In a previous interview with local television station WPEC, she spoke about how unusual her achievement seemed to other people.

Some people found it surprising that she could operate an aircraft but could not yet drive a car. Nathalia, however, took it in stride, saying she found the situation funny.

Her family said she had accumulated approximately 1,300 flight hours by the time of the 𝔠r𝘢sh.

She had reportedly been working as a commercial pilot for around nine months and had ambitions of building a long-term career in aviation.

Flying was not simply a job for Nathalia. It was something she had worked toward from a young age.

According to her stepfather, Nathalia sent her boyfriend a text message shortly before the aircraft went down.

Her boyfriend, identified in media reports as Justin, was also a licensed pilot. The couple shared a passion for aviation and frequently flew together, documenting their experiences through photographs and videos.

That shared understanding made the message particularly significant.

At approximately 12:40 p.m., Nathalia reportedly told him:

“I’ve got turbulence, I’ve got ice.”

Her family believes the message was sent around 10 minutes before the 𝔠r𝘢sh.

At the time, it appeared to be a brief update about the conditions she was experiencing during the flight. However, the same two concerns would also emerge in the aircraft’s final communications with air traffic control.

Investigators are now examining the weather conditions, aircraft performance and flight crew communications to determine what happened during those final minutes.

The message itself does not establish the cause of the 𝔠r𝘢sh, but it provides an important piece of the timeline.

THE TERRIFYING FINAL MINUTES INSIDE THE COCKPIT

The Learjet 60 had departed Austin, Texas, and was heading toward the Bahamas with nine people aboard: two pilots and seven passengers.

During the flight, the crew communicated with air traffic controllers about accumulating ice and moderate turbulence.

The pilots initially indicated that they were managing the icing conditions. They also requested permission to climb to a higher altitude in an attempt to find smoother air.

However, the situation deteriorated rapidly.

Air traffic control recordings captured the crew reporting worsening conditions before issuing a Mayday distress call.

In the final communications, the aircraft was reportedly descending at an extraordinary rate.

One transmission described an overspeed condition as the jet descended at approximately 20,000 feet per minute.

The cockpit recording also captured an emotionally distressing exchange. A female voice urgently warned that the aircraft was going to hit the ground, while a male voice, believed to be the captain, could be heard reciting the Lord’s Prayer.

One of the final reported transmissions included the words:

“We’re out of time.”

Shortly afterward, communication with the aircraft ended.

The Learjet plunged toward the ground and crashed in the Greenacres area of Palm Beach County.

A MASSIVE FIREBALL AND A COMMUNITY LEFT IN SHOCK

The aircraft struck a roadway near a residential mobile home community, creating a large crater and triggering a massive fireball.

Videos recorded by witnesses showed the aircraft descending rapidly before a huge burst of flames and smoke filled the area.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene as authorities began securing the 𝔠r𝘢sh site.

All nine people aboard the aircraft were killed.

The passengers included Texas technology entrepreneur Adam Robinson, his wife Helen Sharp, their two young children, their nanny, and two family friends.

The 𝔠r𝘢sh also affected people living nearby. Approximately 600 residents from the surrounding mobile home community were evacuated as emergency crews worked to secure the area.

Authorities reported that a person on the ground was injured, although there were no additional deaths on the ground reported in the initial coverage.

For the families of those aboard, the tᩚraɢedy meant losing loved ones without warning.

A MOTHER’S WORDS REVEAL THE FEAR SHE HAD ALWAYS CARRIED

Perhaps one of the most heartbreaking aspects of Nathalia’s story came from her mother, Camila Corteleti.

In an interview with the New York Post, Camila spoke about her daughter’s lifelong passion for aviation and the conflicting emotions she experienced while watching her pursue that dream.

She admitted that although she was incredibly proud of Nathalia, she had always feared that flying might one day take her daughter away.

“I wanted her to live her dream, but I knew that her dream was going to be the thing that would take her away from me,” Camila said.

She also recalled knowing that aviation carried risks, even as she supported her daughter’s ambitions.

“I knew that a plane was gonna take her away from me. I always knew it but I was so proud of her. I know she was living her dream.”

Her words reveal the painful reality of a parent who wanted nothing more than to see her child succeed, yet understood the dangers associated with the career she loved.

Nathalia was expected to celebrate her 21st birthday in January 2027.

Instead, her family is now left remembering a young woman whose life revolved around the dream of flying.

WHAT CAUSED THE LEARJET TO 𝔠r𝘢sh?

The exact cause of the accident has not yet been established.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the 𝔠r𝘢sh.

Investigators are examining several factors, including the aircraft’s reported icing conditions, severe turbulence, precipitation, flight crew actions and possible mechanical problems.

Early information from air traffic control recordings indicates that the pilots encountered increasingly difficult weather conditions before the aircraft entered its rapid descent.

Federal investigators have also been examining evidence suggesting that parts of the aircraft may have separated before impact.

However, investigators have cautioned that it is too early to determine precisely what caused the aircraft to lose control.

The investigation will need to establish what happened during the flight, whether the aircraft’s systems were functioning properly and how the weather conditions may have affected its performance.

For now, the final text message Nathalia sent to her boyfriend remains one of the most personal and heartbreaking details to emerge from the disaster.

A young woman who had achieved her childhood dream, accumulated more than 1,300 hours in the air and built a future around aviation was gone just minutes after describing the conditions she was facing.

Her family says she was doing what she loved.

But for the people who loved her, the dream they had once celebrated has now become an unimaginable loss.
