“I KNEW A PLANE WOULD TAKE HER FROM ME”: MOTHER’S HEARTBREAKING WORDS AFTER 20-YEAR-OLD PILOT diᩚєs IN FLORIDA JET 𝔠r𝘢sh
Camila says she was always afraid her daughter Nathalia’s passion for flying would one day lead to heartbreak. Despite that fear, she could not have been prouder of the young woman who was living her dream.
The mother of Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, the young co-pilot aboard a Learjet 60 that crashed in Palm Beach County, Florida, has shared the heartbreaking words she never wanted to say.
“I knew a plane would take her from me. I always knew, but I was so proud of her. I know she was living her dream,” Camila told the New York Post.
Her words reflect the complicated emotions of a mother who had long worried about the risks of her daughter’s chosen career, while also watching her achieve something she deeply loved.
HER FINAL MESSAGE CAME JUST MINUTES BEFORE THE 𝔠r𝘢sh
Nathalia’s stepfather, 44-year-old Thiago Corteleti, told the New York Post that the young pilot was still communicating with loved ones shortly before the aircraft went down.
According to Corteleti, Nathalia sent a message to her boyfriend at around 12:40 p.m. The 𝔠r𝘢sh reportedly happened approximately 10 minutes later.
“She just said: ‘I have turbulence, I have ice,’” he recalled.
Those brief words have become an especially painful memory for the family, knowing how little time passed between her message and the tᩚraɢedy.
A DREAM SHE HAD WORKED YEARS TO ACHIEVE
Nathalia had devoted much of her young life to aviation.
She attended flight school, later worked as a flight instructor, and eventually began pursuing a career as a commercial pilot.
According to her family, she had accumulated approximately 1,300 flight hours and had been working as a commercial pilot for nine months.
She would have celebrated her 21st birthday in January.
For her family, Nathalia was more than a young woman who worked in aviation. She was a daughter who had followed her ambition, worked hard to build her career, and found happiness in the skies.
THE FINAL MOMENTS OF THE FLIGHT
Air traffic control recordings captured the crew reporting icing conditions and moderate turbulence before declaring an emergency.
The crew reportedly issued a Mayday call and communicated that the aircraft was descending uncontrollably.
In the final moments, they warned that they were going to hit the ground.
The last transmission was reported as: “We’re out of time.”
The Learjet 60 crashed in Palm Beach County, Florida, on November 1, 2026. All nine people aboard were reported to have lost their lives.
A MOTHER’S PRIDE, A FAMILY’S UNIMAGINABLE LOSS
For Camila, the pain of losing her daughter is inseparable from the pride she felt watching Nathalia pursue her dream.
She had feared that flying might one day take her daughter away, yet she never stopped being proud of the young woman Nathalia had become.
Now, the family is left holding onto memories of a daughter who loved the skies and had so much more life ahead of her.
Nathalia’s story is a reminder that behind every aviation headline are real people, families, and dreams.
She was loved, she was proud of the life she was building, and she will never be forgotten. May Nathalia and all those aboard the flight rest in peace. 🕊️
