“OUR FATHER, PROTECT US” — HEARTBREAKING PRAYER HEARD IN FINAL RADIO TRANSMISSIONS AS FRIENDS REMEMBER PILOT JEFF GREGORY, 55, KILLED IN FLORIDA JET 𝔠r𝘢sh
A haunting voice reciting the Lord’s Prayer was heard in the background of the final radio transmissions from a Learjet 60 moments before it crashed in Florida, 𝘬iᩚlling all nine people aboard. Friends believe the voice belonged to Captain Jeff Gregory, a devoted Christian, loving husband and father of three.
The final moments of the Learjet 60 that crashed in Palm Beach County, Florida, have revealed an especially heartbreaking detail: a man’s voice can be heard reciting the Lord’s Prayer as the aircraft plunged toward the ground.
The voice has not been conclusively identified. However, friends of Captain Jeff Gregory, the 55-year-old pilot who was at the controls, believe it was his.
For those who knew Gregory, the possibility carries a deeply personal meaning.
He was remembered as a man whose Christian faith had been central to his life since childhood, as well as a devoted husband, father of three and experienced aviator who had spent decades pursuing his passion for flying.
The aircraft crashed near Greenacres, southwest of West Palm Beach, on Sunday, November 1, 2026. All nine people aboard — two crew members and seven passengers — lost their lives.
A PILOT WHO NEVER LOST HIS FAITH
Gregory was originally from Pennsylvania and was married to his wife, Cheryl. Together, they raised three children.
According to a longtime friend and former neighbor, faith had always played an important role in Gregory’s life.
The two men grew up together in the same community. Their parents worked at a chapel, and they attended the same small Christian school.
Those early experiences helped shape Gregory’s religious beliefs, which remained an important part of his identity throughout adulthood.
During the 1990s, he began pursuing flight training, turning a childhood dream into a professional career.
Over the following decades, aviation became one of the defining parts of his life. He accumulated more than 20 years of experience in the industry and eventually became a captain flying private aircraft.
His former employer, East Coast Jets, also confirmed that Gregory had previously worked with the company in 2016 and 2017 before pursuing other opportunities.
But beyond his professional achievements, friends say he will be remembered for his character, his devotion to his family and the faith that guided him.
THE LORD’S PRAYER HEARD IN THE FINAL MOMENTS
As the Learjet encountered increasingly difficult conditions, the flight crew began communicating with air traffic controllers about problems with the aircraft.
The co-pilot, 20-year-old Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, reported accumulating ice and significant turbulence.
The crew requested assistance as the situation became increasingly serious.
The aircraft then began a rapid and uncontrolled descent.
Emergency communications followed, with the pilots issuing a Mayday call and warning controllers that they were losing control.
Amid the increasingly urgent radio transmissions, a man’s voice could be heard reciting the Lord’s Prayer in the background.
The prayer, traditionally beginning with the words “Our Father,” has taken on a heartbreaking significance since Gregory’s identity and religious background became known.
Friends who listened to the recording believe the voice belonged to the captain because of his lifelong Christian faith.
However, authorities have not officially confirmed whose voice can be heard in the recording.
For many people following the tᩚraɢedy, the possibility that Gregory was praying during the aircraft’s final moments has become one of the most emotional details surrounding the disaster.
NINE PEOPLE WHO NEVER MADE IT TO THEIR DESTINATION
The Learjet 60 had departed Austin, Texas, and was traveling toward the Bahamas when it crashed near Greenacres in Palm Beach County.
There were nine people aboard.
The victims were identified as:

A FINAL FLIGHT THAT LEFT SO MANY QUESTIONS
Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board are examining the circumstances surrounding the 𝔠r𝘢sh.
Before the aircraft went down, the crew reported icing and turbulence. The jet subsequently entered an extremely rapid descent.
Investigators have also recovered aircraft components from locations several miles away from the 𝔠r𝘢sh site, raising important questions about whether parts of the aircraft separated before impact.
The investigation is examining the aircraft’s structure, flight data, weather conditions and other possible contributing factors.
No definitive cause has been established.
Authorities have cautioned against drawing conclusions before the investigation is complete.
A HUSBAND, A FATHER AND A MAN REMEMBERED FOR HIS FAITH
Behind the title of captain was a man with a family waiting for him.
Jeff Gregory was more than an experienced pilot. He was Cheryl’s husband, the father of three children and a lifelong friend to people who had known him since childhood.
Those who remember him are now left with stories of the young boy who dreamed of flying, the man who built a career in aviation and the Christian whose faith remained important throughout his life.
The recording of the Lord’s Prayer may never reveal with certainty who was speaking.
But for Gregory’s loved ones, the memory of his faith and the person he was will remain.
Nine lives were lost in a matter of moments. Nine families and circles of loved ones now face a future forever changed.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Cheryl, Gregory’s children, the families of Nathalia and all the other victims of this devastating Florida tᩚraɢedy.
May all nine victims rest in peace.
