10-YEAR-OLD JALAYSHIA “MALAYSHIA” ALFORD FOUND IN CAR TRUNK AFTER 10-DAY SEARCH — FOSTER MOTHER CHARGED

The young girl disappeared from West Philadelphia on October 26. Her remains were discovered in Lindenwold, New Jersey, bringing a heartbreaking end to a search involving local police, the FBI and members of the community.

A heartbreaking search for 10-year-old Jalayshia “Malayshia” Alford has ended in tᩚraɢedy after investigators found her body inside the trunk of a car in Lindenwold, New Jersey.

The young girl had been missing from West Philadelphia since October 26, prompting an extensive search involving Philadelphia police, FBI agents and community members.

On Thursday, November 5, authorities confirmed that her foster mother, 36-year-old Carprice Williams, had been charged in connection with the child’s dєatᩚh.

A 10-DAY SEARCH THAT ENDED IN tᩚraɢedy

Jalayshia was reported missing after she reportedly left her foster home in the 500 block of North Simpson Street in West Philadelphia on the morning of October 26.

According to the initial account provided to police, she was supposed to walk to the school bus stop but never returned home.

The disappearance triggered an extensive search throughout Philadelphia and surrounding areas.

Police officers, FBI agents and community volunteers searched neighborhoods, wooded areas and nearby parks. Investigators also reviewed surveillance footage and spoke with people who might have information about the child’s whereabouts.

Authorities had previously expressed serious concern for Jalayshia’s safety because of her age and the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.

Her family and members of the community distributed missing-person flyers and appealed for information, hoping she would be found safe.

But the search ended with devastating news.

HER BODY WAS DISCOVERED INSIDE A CAR IN NEW JERSEY

According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, investigators discovered Jalayshia’s remains inside the trunk of a Lincoln sedan parked at an apartment complex on Laurel Road in Lindenwold, New Jersey.

The discovery was made shortly after midnight on Thursday.

Law enforcement sources told the newspaper that the vehicle belonged to a relative of the foster mother.

During a news conference, Assistant District Attorney Ashley Toczylowski said investigators had obtained video that appeared to show the child’s body being removed from her home.

Authorities also received information from a witness that helped them locate the vehicle in New Jersey.

A preliminary medical examination determined that Jalayshia died from blunt force trauma. The medical examiner classified the manner of dєatᩚh as homicide, according to prosecutors.

FOSTER MOTHER CHARGED AS INVESTIGATION CONTINUES

Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner announced that Jalayshia’s foster mother, Carprice Williams, 36, had been charged in connection with her dєatᩚh.

The charges include murder, endangering the welfare of a child, tampering with evidence and 𝘢bu𝘴e of a corpse, along with related offenses.

Investigators also questioned at least one other person who they believe may have helped dispose of the child’s remains, according to sources cited by The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Authorities have not publicly established that person’s criminal responsibility.

The investigation has also raised questions about the timeline of Jalayshia’s disappearance.

Investigators said the last video showing her alive was recorded on October 22 at her home. Her foster mother did not report her missing until the afternoon of October 26.

According to her aunt, Jalayshia had reportedly missed school on October 23 and October 26.

Authorities said there were inconsistencies in the accounts provided by adults connected to the case.

A FAMILY AND COMMUNITY LEFT HEARTBROKEN

Jalayshia had reportedly been living with her foster family for approximately two years.

Her aunt, Yolanda Brown, described her as a shy, quiet and intelligent little girl who had three siblings.

The child’s former teacher, Tashonna Moore, also remembered her as a sweet and kind student.

Speaking to NBC10, Moore said she was devastated when she learned that Jalayshia had gone missing.

“She was so sweet and kind. She didn’t do nothing to anybody,” Moore said.

Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel also spoke about the tᩚraɢedy during Thursday’s news conference.

“She deserved safety. She deserved to be loved. She deserved a chance to grow up,” he said.

Mayor Cherelle Parker expressed her grief, saying the child’s dєatᩚh had deeply shaken her.

City officials also called for a closer examination of the circumstances surrounding Jalayshia’s disappearance and the systems responsible for protecting children in foster care.

At just 10 years old, Jalayshia should have had the chance to grow up, go to school and enjoy the simple moments of childhood.

Instead, her family is now left mourning a little girl whose disappearance captured the attention of an entire community.

As the investigation continues, those who knew her are remembering her as a child who deserved love, protection and the opportunity to live a full life.

Justice for Jalayshia “Malayshia” Alford.
