Family Finds Beloved Great Pyrenees Puppy Dead With Arrow Through His Body After Mysterious Disappearance

A Missouri family is devastated after their beloved 18-month-old dog was found dead on their property with an arrow lodged in his side, prompting a police investigation into what happened to the gentle family pet.
The dog, named Zeus, belonged to Emma and Clay Lively, who live near Highway 47, south of Warrenton, Missouri.
Zeus had reportedly disappeared from his usual routine early Sunday morning. His owners searched for him after realizing he had been missing for two days.
On Tuesday, Emma followed a troubling instinct and walked through the family’s woods and along a creek. There, she made the heartbreaking discovery: Zeus was dead, with an arrow still embedded in his body.
In a Facebook post, she described the devastating moment and expressed her anger and grief over losing the dog.
Clay remembered Zeus as a loving and gentle companion who played an important role in protecting the family’s property.
“He was the sweetest dog. Just a gentle giant,” Clay told First Alert 4.
The family kept chickens and other animals on their property, and Zeus helped guard them by barking at foxes and other potential threats.
Family believes the dog was deliberately targeted
Missouri was in its bow-hunting season when Zeus was killed, and the family lives in an area where hunting is common.
However, Clay does not believe his large white dog could reasonably have been mistaken for a deer.
“If my dog was tan or brown or something of the sort I could see. But a big old white polar bear-looking dog, there’s no mistake. It was intentional. And very sad,” he said.
His suspicion has not yet been established by investigators.
The arrow recovered from Zeus has been sent to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crime laboratory for fingerprint and DNA testing in an effort to identify whoever was responsible.
Authorities investigate the dog’s dєatᩚh
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. No suspect or arrest had been publicly announced in the reporting available on November 7.
The case has also drawn attention from the Humane Society of Missouri’s Animal Cruelty Task Force.
Ella Frank, the organization’s task force director, discussed the scale of animal 𝘢bu𝘴e and neglect investigations in the state. The organization reported handling 8,503 cases involving 24,809 animals over the previous 12 months.
Clay said he hopes someone with information will come forward and help investigators establish what happened.
In an emotional appeal, he also expressed a willingness to forgive whoever was responsible if the incident turned out to have been an accident.
“We forgive you, accidents happen, stuff happens. People make poor decisions but just didn’t deserve it,” he said.
For the Lively family, Zeus was much more than a guard dog. He was a gentle companion who helped protect their animals and was loved by everyone at home.

Now, they are left waiting for forensic testing to provide answers about the heartbreaking loss of their beloved pet.
