💔 BREAKING: Bronx Father Loses His Only Son, 15, on the Way to School — Days After a Bullying Warning, His Mother Faces an Unthinkable Goodbye From Ghana

🚨 HE BROUGHT HIS SON TO AMERICA FOR A BETTER FUTURE. JUST ONE YEAR LATER, THE 15-YEAR-OLD WAS RUNNING FOR HIS LIFE ON A BRONX STREET. NOW HIS FATHER IS LEFT WITH AN EMPTY HOME — AND HIS MOTHER IS THOUSANDS OF MILES AWAY, HOPING FOR ONE FINAL GOODBYE.

NEW YORK — A school morning that should have ended with homework, dinner and another ordinary evening at home has instead left a family devastated across two continents.

Javits Frimpong, a 15-year-old student who came to the United States from Ghana in 2025, was fatally shot on October 29, 2026, while walking to school in the Bronx.

He had dreamed of becoming a doctor.

His father, Thomas Frimpong, had dreamed of watching him succeed.

But instead of preparing for his son’s graduation, Thomas is now pleading for answers about why the teenager never made it to class.

And one detail has made the tᩚraɢedy even more troubling.

Days before Javits was attacked, his father says the school had contacted him about students bullying his son.

The Morning His Father Will Never Forget

Shortly before 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Javits was walking near East 171st Street in the Bronx’s Claremont neighborhood.

He was only a short distance from the apartment he shared with his father.

Then gunfire erupted.

Surveillance footage showed the teenager running along the street as another person followed him.

Javits continued running before collapsing from a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

Police rushed him to St. Barnabas Hospital.

Despite efforts to save him, the teenager did not survive.

Officers began searching for three teenage males, reportedly between 16 and 18 years old, who were seen fleeing the area.

No arrests had been announced by November 1.

A School Warning That Now Haunts His Father

Thomas Frimpong told reporters that his son had previously complained about being bullied.

According to the father, the school’s principal contacted him just days before the śh́óóting to report that two students had been suspended following a confrontation involving Javits.

Thomas said his son had described repeated problems with another student.

At the time, he hoped the situation would improve.

But after Thursday’s tᩚraɢedy, those conversations took on a heartbreaking new meaning.

The father now believes investigators should examine whether the earlier conflict was connected to his son’s dєatᩚh.

Police have not established such a connection, and the students reportedly suspended have not been publicly identified as suspects.

Still, the father’s questions remain.

Was Javits afraid when he left home that morning?

Did he recognize the people who confronted him?

Could anyone have known he was in danger?

The Boy Who Wanted to Become a Doctor

Javits had been in America for approximately one year.

He attended DreamYard Preparatory School and was beginning to build a future in New York.

His father described him as quiet, intelligent and focused on his education.

Javits wanted to become a physician.

It was the kind of dream that made the family’s move from Ghana feel full of possibility.

Thomas had worked to create a better life for his son, hoping the teenager would have access to opportunities that could help him achieve his goals.

But the future they imagined has been replaced by a grief that words can barely describe.

For Thomas, even returning home has become painful.

He recalled that Javits would often come downstairs to open the door when he arrived after work.

A small daily act that once felt ordinary has now become one of the memories he treasures most.

A Mother Waiting Thousands of Miles Away

The tᩚraɢedy has also left Javits’ mother facing heartbreak in Ghana.

While his father mourns in New York, she has been separated from the family by thousands of miles.

For days, the question of whether she could travel to America to say goodbye remained uncertain.

Then, on October 31, Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced that President Donald Trump had agreed to facilitate an immediate visa for her.

The announcement brought a measure of hope to the grieving family.

Ghanaian officials began coordinating assistance with the visa process.

However, authorities had not independently confirmed that Javits’ mother had already arrived in New York.

For the family, the possibility of being together to mourn their son carries enormous emotional importance.

A Community Demands Justice

Following the śh́óóting, friends, relatives and community members gathered in the Bronx to remember Javits.

Candles and prayers honored a teenager whose dreams ended far too soon.

Residents expressed disbelief that a child could lose his life while trying to get to school.

Family supporters urged those responsible to surrender.

The tᩚraɢedy also prompted renewed discussion about student safety, school bullying and violence involving teenagers.

But for the Frimpong family, the issue remains deeply personal.

They want to know who attacked Javits.

They want to understand why.

And they want accountability for the loss of a boy who had barely begun his life.
