Father of Four Makes Desperate Final Call to Wife as Rising Florida Floodwaters Swallow His Truck

A Florida father of four made a heartbreaking FaceTime call to his wife as floodwaters rapidly engulfed his truck, telling her he did not know what to do moments before he drowned.
Joshua Bennett, 34, was caught in the devastating flooding that swept through Palm Bay, Florida, on Monday, November 2. What began as an ordinary trip to get coffee turned into a desperate fight for survival when his vehicle became trapped in fast-rising water.
His wife, Stacy Bennett, recalled receiving the FaceTime call as her husband struggled inside the submerged vehicle.
“He called me on FaceTime, and he was just crying like, ‘I don’t know what to do, I don’t know what to do,’” she told WESH.
Bennett told her that he was in what felt like the middle of a river, with water surrounding his truck.
Desperate to save him, Stacy urged her husband to break one of the windows and escape. But the call suddenly disconnected.
She immediately contacted emergency services and spent hours trying to get help for him. Despite her efforts, rescuers were unable to reach him in time.
Joshua was later found dead. His dєatᩚh was one of two storm-related fatalities confirmed in Palm Bay after the historic rainfall overwhelmed parts of the region.
The storm brought nearly 20 inches of rain to the area in approximately 14 hours, turning roads into powerful waterways, flooding neighborhoods and triggering hundreds of rescue operations.
Stacy described her husband as an amazing partner and devoted father who loved spending time with his children. The couple had four children together: one son and three daughters, including twin girls who were born prematurely.
“He was super obsessed with them. He loved to do activities with them,” she said, remembering how much he enjoyed being involved in their lives.
The loss has left the family facing an unimaginable future without the person who played such a central role in their home.
“Now we’re essentially starting from scratch,” Stacy said. “He’s not here. I don’t have my support system. They don’t have their father.”
City officials also identified the second person killed in the flooding as 78-year-old Archie Richards. Authorities said both deaths were connected to the severe weather that struck the area.
The disaster prompted emergency warnings as officials urged residents to stay off flooded roads. Even areas that appeared passable could conceal dangerous currents and rapidly changing water levels.

For Stacy and the couple’s four children, however, the storm will forever be remembered for something far more personal: the final phone call from a husband and father who was desperately trying to find a way out of the rising water.
