Mother of Two diᩚєs in Hotel Fall as CCTV Captures Terrifying Moment Window Frame Gives Way

A 26-year-old mother of two died after falling from the seventh floor of a hotel in Brazil when the aluminium structure of a corridor window suddenly gave way beneath her.
Renata Rebeca Negrão Saldanha dos Santos was staying at the Rio Poty Hotel in São Luís, in the northeastern state of Maranhão, with her boyfriend when the tᩚraɢedy occurred in the early hours of November 3.
The couple had traveled from Pará for a poker tournament and were expected to return home that same day.
Security camera footage reportedly shows Renata and her boyfriend walking along the hotel’s seventh-floor corridor before stopping near a window. As they appeared to look for their room key, Renata sat on the window frame and leaned backwards.
Moments later, the aluminium structure suddenly came loose, sending her falling backwards from the building.
She landed on a canopy above the hotel’s entrance. Staff rushed to help and first aid was reportedly administered, but she died from her injuries.
Her boyfriend appeared stunned by what had happened and remained near the window. He later told investigators that he could not remember the fall.
According to police, the couple had been drinking that night and appeared intoxicated.
Police chief George Marques, who is leading the investigation, said security footage showed no indication that Renata had been pushed or assaulted. Her boyfriend was questioned and released, and authorities said he was not considered a suspect.
Investigators are now examining the hotel’s window structure to establish why the aluminium frame detached and whether there were any maintenance or installation problems.
The Maranhão State Secretariat of Public Security confirmed that forensic experts had inspected the hotel, but the technical examination had not yet established the precise cause of the failure.
The hotel expressed deep regret over Renata’s dєatᩚh and said it was cooperating with authorities. It also offered condolences to her family and friends.
The tᩚraɢedy has devastated Renata’s family, particularly her mother, Betty Negrão. Speaking about the loss, she said: “My daughter went out to enjoy herself and I am receiving her in a coffin.”
Renata’s body was returned to Ananindeua, in Pará, where her family prepared to say their final goodbyes.

The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities seeking to determine what caused the window structure to give way and whether anyone should be held responsible for the fatal accident.
