Footballer’s Best Friend Reveals Girlfriend’s Agony After His Sudden dєatᩚh — They Had Been Planning a Disney Trip Together

The girlfriend of Spanish footballer Jesús de Miguel was left facing an unimaginable ordeal after the 30-year-old striker suffered a fatal collision during a match, with their young daughter beside her as the family waited desperately for news.

Now, one of his closest friends has spoken about the devastating hours surrounding his dєatᩚh, revealing how María was left alone at the hospital while the footballer’s condition deteriorated.

De Miguel, who played for CD Tenerife, suffered a severe blow to the chest during a match against FC Andorra on November 2. He collided with Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono while both players were challenging for the ball.

The striker collapsed on the pitch and received emergency medical attention before being taken to hospital. Despite efforts to save him, he died the following morning, November 3, at just 30 years old.

His girlfriend María had been at the match with their young daughter, Carla, who was around a year old. As the family waited for news, she faced the frightening situation of being at the hospital without her partner’s parents initially by her side.

De Miguel’s close friend and fellow footballer Fernando Román revealed that he and his girlfriend had been in contact with María throughout the afternoon and night.

Speaking to Spanish television programme Vamos a Ver, Román described the situation as heartbreaking and urged people close to the family to support them through the loss.

He also recalled that the two families had recently been discussing a holiday to Disneyland with their daughters.

The planned trip was supposed to be another happy memory for two young families who were close. Instead, the conversation became a painful reminder of the future De Miguel would never get to share with his little girl.

Román later paid tribute to his friend in an emotional message on social media, describing him as humble, hardworking and someone who was always ready to help others.

He recalled holidays, family meals, time spent together with their children and the friendship they had built over the years. He said he had considered De Miguel a member of his own family.

The tᩚraɢedy also devastated De Miguel’s parents. A neighbour in their hometown of Navahermosa, in Toledo, told Spanish television that his father had been watching the match at a local bar when he saw the collision on television.

According to the neighbour, he immediately broke down in tears. The family then travelled to Tenerife after learning that their son had been taken to intensive care.

De Miguel’s parents eventually joined María at the hospital, but the family was unable to change the outcome.

A preliminary autopsy report identified accidental chest trauma as consistent with the cause of dєatᩚh. Authorities also began examining the circumstances of the collision.

In the days after his dєatᩚh, tributes poured in from across Spanish football. His family released a statement thanking supporters for their messages and asking for privacy as they grieved.

For Román and those who knew De Miguel beyond the football pitch, the loss is about far more than the dєatᩚh of a teammate. It is the loss of a close friend, a partner and a father whose daughter will grow up without him.

The Disneyland holiday they once discussed will remain one of the many ordinary plans that suddenly became impossible.
