STREET RACERS JAILED FOR 28 YEARS AFTER MOTHER AND HER FOUR-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER KILLED ON SCHOOL RUN
“They should have returned home. They should have continued with their lives.” Those heartbreaking words echoed in court as two drivers were sentenced over a high-speed race that ended the lives of a young mother and her little girl in Leeds, England.
Justyna Hulboj, 27, and her four-year-old daughter, Lena Czepczor, were walking to the child’s nursery on the morning of January 16, 2023, when tᩚraɢedy struck.
More than three years later, the two men responsible have finally been sentenced to prison.
A morning that changed a family forever
Shortly after 8:30 a.m., Justyna and Lena were walking along Scott Hall Road when a white Audi TT RS, driven by Hardeep Bhachu, lost control, mounted the pavement and struck them.
Both mother and daughter died at the scene.
The court heard that Bhachu had been travelling at around 89 mph shortly before the collision, on a road where the speed limit was 40 mph before reducing to 30 mph.
He had been racing alongside a black BMW driven by Jasskamal Riyat. Dashcam and CCTV footage showed the two vehicles accelerating aggressively and travelling at excessive speeds.
In the moments before the 𝔠r𝘢sh, Riyat reportedly filmed Bhachu’s Audi. After the collision, he continued driving away without stopping to help.
Two men sentenced over the devastating 𝔠r𝘢sh
On October 26, 2026, Leeds Crown Court handed down the sentences.
- Hardeep Bhachu, 29: 12 years in prison after admitting two counts of causing dєatᩚh by dangerous driving.
- Jasskamal Riyat, 37: 16 years in prison after denying the charges and being convicted by a jury.
Both men were also banned from driving for six years and ordered to take an extended driving test.
The judge made clear that public roads are not places for competition, warning that driving at extreme speeds can have irreversible consequences.
A father’s world collapsed in a moment
Perhaps the most painful words came from Dominik Czepczor, Justyna’s fiancé and Lena’s father.
In his victim impact statement, he described saying goodbye to his family that morning, telling them he loved them without knowing it would be the last time he would see them.
When he learned that both had died, he said, his whole world collapsed.
He spoke of the dreams they had shared, the future they had imagined together and the enormous emptiness that remains in their absence.
He explained that no one could bring back the two people who meant the most to him, and that learning to live with the loss would be a lifelong struggle.
Two lives lost, a family left grieving
Sentencing the men, Judge Ray Singh said Justyna and Lena should have gone to school that morning, returned home and continued with their lives.
Instead, their lives ended on a pavement because two drivers placed speed and competition above the safety of others.
No prison sentence can restore a mother to her child or bring a little girl back to her father.
For Justyna and Lena’s loved ones, the grief will continue long after the courtroom doors have closed.
May their memories live on, and may their family find strength as they face a loss that can never truly be undone. 🤍
