He wrote that he was praying it would be the last time he had to come back. TMZ later reported the comments under that post. Cindy Crawford wrote, “You are a warrior! Walked thru the fire to find yourself! So proud!” He answered, “love you mama!!!” Kaia Gerber wrote, “that’s my brother I am so damn proud.” Rande Gerber wrote that he was proud of his son’s courage, that facing what is hard takes real strength, and that watching him find his way back to himself was everything. Six months later the same post was being read as a farewell. Gerber died on September 20 at Resolutions Living in Santa Monica. He was 27.
Ibogaine is a psychoactive compound drawn from the iboga plant, used in some clinics outside the United States as an experimental treatment for addiction and trauma. It is a Schedule I substance under U.S. federal law, which means it has no accepted medical use in this country and cannot be prescribed here. In Mexico it is not classified the same way.
