MOM ARRESTED AS SHE STEPS OFF PLANE AFTER ALLEGEDLY LEAVING FOUR CHILDREN HOME ALONE FOR LAS VEGAS TRIP

Bodycam footage captured the moment deputies approached Irene Miller at an Orlando airport. The arrest came days after a 9-year-old boy was taken to hospital following an accident at the family’s home.

A Florida mother was arrested as she stepped off a flight from Las Vegas after authorities alleged she had left her four children alone at home while traveling out of state for work.

Irene Miller, 50, was taken into custody at Orlando International Airport on October 23, after returning from a five-day trip to Nevada. She faces four counts of child neglect without great bodily harm, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

The case came to light when one of the children called 911 to report that a dumbbell had fallen on her 9-year-old brother’s head.

Deputies were dispatched to the family’s home in Kissimmee shortly after 8:30 p.m. on October 21.

When they arrived, authorities said they found all four children — ages 9, 11, 12 and 14 — without an adult present. Emergency responders took the injured boy to Celebration Hospital for treatment. He was later discharged.

Investigators contacted Miller, who allegedly told deputies she was in Las Vegas for work. She reportedly said she had left Florida on October 18 and planned to return on October 23.

According to the sheriff’s office, Miller said she had arranged for a babysitter traveling from Tampa to help the children get ready for school in the mornings and check on them after school. However, the sitter was not required to stay overnight, leaving the children without overnight adult supervision, investigators said. BODYCAM CAPTURES AIRPORT ARREST

After learning Miller’s expected return date, detectives arranged to meet her at Orlando International Airport.

Bodycam footage released by authorities shows deputies approaching Miller as she exits the plane. She is then escorted away from the arrival area, handcuffed and taken into custody.

Miller was booked into the Orange County Jail on four counts of child neglect without great bodily harm.

Authorities also contacted the children’s father, who agreed to take them into his care while the investigation continued.

The case has drawn further attention because the parents are reportedly in the process of divorcing.

According to subsequent media reports, the children’s father, Mark Miller, said he was now caring for all four children while trying to maintain his work and find stable housing for the family.

He reportedly launched a fundraising appeal to help cover housing and legal expenses. He also expressed a measured view of his estranged wife, saying he did not believe she was a bad person but felt she had made choices without fully considering the consequences.

The family’s circumstances have added another layer to a case that began with a child’s emergency call and ended with an airport arrest.

CASE REMAINS UNDER LEGAL REVIEW

The sheriff’s office has said it will investigate allegations involving inadequate supervision and care of children. Miller’s four charges remain allegations, and the charges themselves do not establish guilt.

As of the latest reports reviewed, it was unclear whether she had entered a plea or retained an attorney to comment on her behalf.

For the four children, the immediate priority is safety and stability as authorities continue addressing the case.
