A CEO Denied Knowing His Poor Father—Until the Old Man Walked Into the Boardroom

PART 1: THE FATHER HE WAS ASHAMED OF

“Security! Get this filthy old man out of my building!”

My son shouted those words in front of twenty executives.

I was seventy-four years old, wearing a faded janitor’s uniform.

And the man humiliating me was my only child.

But he didn’t know one thing.

I was the secret investor who had just purchased 60% of his company.

My name is Henry Mitchell.

Thirty years ago, I worked three jobs to put my son, Richard, through college.

His mother died when he was twelve.

I raised him alone.

I skipped meals so he could eat.

Wore the same clothes for years so he could have new ones.

And sold our family home to pay his university tuition.

Today, Richard is the CEO of a multimillion-dollar technology company in Chicago.

But somewhere along the way, he forgot where he came from.

That Monday morning, I arrived at his office carrying a homemade lunch.

Richard had been ignoring my calls for months.

I just wanted to see my boy.

At the reception desk, a young woman smiled.

“Can I help you, sir?”

“I’m here to see my son, Richard Mitchell.”

Before she could respond, Richard appeared with several investors.

He froze when he saw me.

“Dad? What are you doing here?”

I smiled.

“I brought your favorite chicken sandwich.”

His expression hardened.

“Not now!”

One investor asked, “Richard, is this your father?”

Richard looked at my worn clothes.

Then laughed nervously.

“No. He’s just one of our cleaning staff.”

My heart shattered.

“Richard…”

He grabbed my arm.

“Get out! You’re embarrassing me!”

I placed the lunch on the counter.

“Happy birthday, son.”

Then I walked away.

That evening, I called my attorney.

“James, is the acquisition complete?”

“Yes, Mr. Mitchell. You now control sixty percent of the voting shares.”

I looked at an old photograph of Richard as a little boy.

“Then schedule a board meeting tomorrow.”

At 9 a.m., Richard entered the boardroom.

He was smiling confidently.

Until he saw me sitting at the head of the table.

Wearing a tailored navy suit.

Beside me stood three attorneys.

“Dad?! What is this?”

I looked at him calmly.

“Good morning, Richard.”

He turned toward the chairman.

“Why is my father here?”

The chairman cleared his throat.

“Because your father is now the controlling shareholder of this company.”

Richard’s face went white.

“That’s impossible!”

I slowly opened a folder.

“Yesterday, you told everyone I was just a janitor.”

He swallowed.

“Dad, I can explain.”

I shook my head.

“There’s something I need to explain first.”

I placed a financial report on the table.

“Richard, where did the missing $3.2 million go?”

His hands began shaking.

Then my attorney whispered:

“Mr. Mitchell, we discovered something else.”

I turned toward him.

“What?”

“Your son wasn’t acting alone.”

Richard suddenly stood up.

“STOP THE MEETING!”

But it was too late.
